Oral cancer is one of the most public health problems in the world. On the basis of oral cancer represents 2 proc. of all cancer diseases. Cancer Research Organisation in Europe sayd, that lip and mouth cancer takes 15 plase according to frequency of oncological diseases. It's a big problem for the Health Protection Organization not only for our country, but also and for developed countries. Lithuania takes a 10 place, in accordance with the prevalence of cancerous diseases. In order to reduce the incidence of oral cancer, improve the quality and treatment of oral cancer, to do the results better and the overall condition of the patient must be given more attention to information about professional and individual oral hygiene. Aim: To find out what knowlege have the oral cancer patients of professional and individual oral hygiene. Object: oral cancer ill persons and their knowledge about professional and individual oral hygiene. Objectives: 1. Theoretically describe the etiology and pathogenesis of oral cancer 2. Describe the exspecially oral care of oral cancer patients 3. To assess the knowlege of oral cancer patients about professional and individual oral hygiene. Methods and Contingent: Analysis of scientific literature and self developed questionnaire consisting of demographic questions and questions about oral health and oral hygiene were performed. The research sample included 60 persons, who had oral cancer and who agreed to answer the questions with goodwill. Obtaining take up 34 man and 26 womans was questioned. The overall average age was about 48. Results: For persons, who has oral cancer is very important to have healthy teeth (45 percent). Persons who had oral cancer evaluete satisfactory their oral hygiene, men 35 percent and women 27 percent. The majority of the respondents rated their oral hygiene before oral cancer well (40 percent), excellent 28 percent. 68 percent of respondents know, who is the oral hygienist and oral hygiene procedure, did not know the 32 percent of respondents. In accordance with the opinion of the respondents, they have all the remedies to keep their oral hygiene (63 percent). About tooth brushing (48 percent) and dental brush replacement (62 percent) the majority of the respondents asked right. However, people with oral cancer do not know (61 percent) what is amount of fluoride toothpaste which they use. 80 percent of respondents do not use dental floss, but understand of its importance. The result, who knew (33 percent) and who didn‘know (37 percent), what are teeth stones is almost the same. The most of respondents receive basic information about oral health and oral care from the internet articles (31 percent), television (30 percent), from family members/friends (17percent). Conclusions: Finally, the knowledge of oral cancer patients about professional and individual oral hygiene can be assess, that knowledge is satisfactory. The majority of the respondents know who is oral hygienist and oral hygiene procedure (68 percent). About tooth brushing (48 percent) and dental brush replacement (62 percent), knowledge of the brush type is good, but the respondents don‘t know, what is amound of fluoride toothpaste which they use (61 percent), what is their rinse aid of oral cavity.
