dc.description.abstract In 2011, the teaching aid English Grammar Guide was developed to introduce English morphology and syntax and help understand English as a system. The structured knowledge of parts of speech and parts of the sentence, grammatical categories, word formation, and the distinctive structures of the English language were also intended to help recall the grammar and terminology of the mother tongue, Lithuanian, as the comparison of languages creates a synergistic effect. This English Grammar Guide differs from other grammar reference books as it provides a systematically organised review of the whole English grammar, starting from the core elements of the English language and proceeding with more complicated ones. The topics are arranged according to the logic used to teach the English Grammar course in the fields of Lingual and Translation Studies. A variety of sources adapted to students’ levels have been used. The topics are presented sequentially, moving from simple to more complex ones. Some grammatical phenomena are revised for several reasons. Firstly, to feel the satisfaction from “I know it already”. Secondly, to introduce something new. Thirdly, to see the same structure from a different angle. The theoretical explanations attempt to reproduce what the students have already learnt or encourage independent modelling based on the existing knowledge and analytical skills. Therefore, three types of tasks are provided to engage in self-study. en_US
