Santrauka:
Temos aktualumas.
leidžiant sušvelninti neigiamą streso poveikį ir išlaikyti geresnę sveikatos būklę (Extremera ir kt.;
Tyrimo tipas kiekybinis. Tyrimui atlikti naudojama
mokslinės literatūros analizė, anketinė apklausa raštu bei aprašomoji statistinė duomenų analizė.
Tiriamieji – bendrosios praktikos slaugytojai. Tyrime dalyvavo 75 respondentai.
Pagrindiniai empirinio tyrimo rezultatai.
panaudoti kito asmens emocijas.
Didesnis stresas
darbe labiau priklauso nuo asmeninės emocinės kompetencijos, nei nuo tarpasmeninės emocinės
kompetencijos.
Description:
Relevance of the topic. According to researchers, nursing is one of the most stressful areas
of work (Selye, 1976; Koinis et al., 2015). Studies show that the stress experienced is more
pronounced for nurses those are working in hospital wards more than in primary care (Alenezi et
al., 2018). Emotional intelligence is especially important in the field of nursing for the existence and
understanding of emotions, it is seen as the predominant element in maintaining essential human
relationships and is associated with effective decision making, clinical environment and
interprofessional relationships. A higher level of emotional intelligence helps to understand and
absorb emotional processes more effectively, allowing the negative effects of stress to be mitigated,
and also contributes to better health (Extremera et al., 2003). The researchers ’results reveal a
statistically positive association between emotional intelligence and stress management (r = 0.29, p
<.001) (Park et al., 2014). The results of a study by Landa et al., (2008) also indicate that emotional
intelligence acts as a protective factor against stress and health for nurses.
Research problem. What is the relationship between nurses ’stress at work and emotional
intelligence?
Object of the research. The relationship between nurses ’stress at work and emotional
intelligence.
Aim of the research. To determine the relationship between stress experienced by general
practice nurses at work and emotional intelligence.
Research tasks. 1. To reveal the concept of stress and emotional intelligence; 2.
Theoretically substantiate the relationship between stress and emotional intelligence; 3. To
determine the level of stress and emotional intelligence of the general practice nurses; 4. To
determine the relationship between stress and emotional intelligence of the general practice nurses
at work.
Research methodology and subjects. The type of study is quantitative. The analysis of
scientific literature, written questionnaire and descriptive statistical data analysis are used for this
research. Subjects of the research are general practice nurses. The study involved 75 respondents.
The main results of the empirical research. The overall stress level of the nurses
surveyed is slightly lower than average. The greatest stress is caused by situations involving the
death, suffering or by painful procedures that are performed on patients. The least stress is
experienced in situations related to lack of support. The overall emotional intelligence of the study
group is moderate. Respondents are best able to listen to the other person's emotions, and they are
the least successful in using the other person's emotions. Lower emotional intelligence is most
strongly associated with higher levels of stress due to conflict situations with physicians and related
cases. Greater stress at work depends more on personal emotional competence than on interpersonal
emotional competence.
