The paper consists of 45 pages, includes 4 tables. 22 references have been used. The research paper is relevant to anyone who uses the English language and wants to improve the knowledge of the language, and it is especially beneficial to translators because it is extremely important to understand the grammatical structure of the source language (SL) and the target language (TL). The subject matter of this paper is the cases of the usage of the grammatical categories of tense and aspect in the English and Lithuanian languages. The problem question is how the Lithuanian tense and aspect system corresponds to the English tense and aspect system while translating. The aim of the study is to compare the English and Lithuanian tense and aspect systems and identify the correspondences of the English verb forms in the Lithuanian language. The objectives are to provide the theoretical overview about the English and Lithuanian tense and aspect systems; reveal the differences between the English and Lithuanian tense and aspect systems; find out how the tense and aspect of the English verbs are rendered in the translation from English into Lithuanian. The methods used include: 1) analysis of theoretical sources; 2) linguistic comparative descriptive analysis. The paper consists of four parts: the introduction, the theoretical and practical parts, and the conclusions. The introduction provides the definition of the concepts of tense and aspect. It also describes the relevance of the paper, the aim, the objectives and the methods of the research. The theoretical part is based on the ideas expressed in the works of Ambrazas (2006), Baker (2018), Navickienė (2016), Pažūsis et al. (2014), Murphy (2019) and other scholars. The practical analysis is based on the examples found in What Money Can‘t Buy by Michael J. Sandel and its translation.	en_US

Baigiamojo darbo vadovė lektorė G. Navickienė, Kauno kolegija / Menų ir ugdymo fakulteto Kalbų centras, Kaunas, 2020. Baigiamasis darbas susideda iš 45 psl., yra 4 lentelės, darbe panaudoti 22 šaltiniai. Darbo tema - gramatinių laiko ir veikslo kategorijų raiška anglų ir lietuvių kalbose. Ši tema yra aktuali ne tik visiems anglų kalbos vartotojams, bet ir vertėjams, nes verčiant yra be galo svarbu suvokti abiejų kalbų gramatinę struktūrą ir laiko bei veikslo sąvokas. Darbo objektas yra laikas ir veikslas bei jų vartojimo atvejai anglų ir lietuvių kalbose. Pagrindinė šio darbo problema yra laiko ir veikslo atitikmenys verčiant į lietuvių kalbą. Darbo tikslas – palyginti anglų ir lietuvių laikų ir veikslų sistemą bei nustatyti anglų kalbos veiksmažodžių laiko ir veikslo formų atitikmenis lietuvių kalboje. Darbo uždaviniai: apžvelgti anglų ir lietuvių kalbos laiko ir veikslo sistemas, apibūdinti jų skirtumus bei išsiaiškinti, kaip anglų veiksmažodžių ypatybės perteikiamos vertime iš anglų į lietuvių kalbą. Darbo metodai: teorinės medžiagos analizė; gretinamoji lingvistinė analizė, pagrįsta aprašymu bei palyginimu. Darbą sudaro įvadas, teorinė ir praktinė dalys bei išvados. Įvade aptariama gramatikos išmanymo svarba verčiant; pateikiami laiko ir veikslo sąvokų apibrėžimai; įvardijama darbo svarba, tikslas, uždaviniai bei pritaikyti metodai. Teorinėje dalyje, remiantis Ambrazo (2006), Baker (2018), Navickienės (2016), Pažūsio ir kt. (2014), Murphy (2019) ir kt. teoriniais šaltiniais, aptariamos anglų ir lietuvių kalbos laikų ir veikslų sistemos. Praktinei daliai medžiaga surinkta iš Michael J.
