dc.description Early skin ageing is one of the most pressing problems in todays world. People seek to maintain their youthful appearence, takes care of their skin condition, search for new ways to prevent ageing (Savoja etc., 2013). Recently cosmetic enrich in minerals became more popular (Suwandee etc., 2014). As an example one of the components in a „Gemology“ companies cosmetics are precious stones such as diamonds, pearls, blue amber etc. Study objective: To reveal the effects of cosmetics containing pearls to photoageing skin. Study goals: 1. In theory explain the causes and symptoms of skin photoageing; 2. Measure active substances that are in cosmetics for photoageing effects; 3. Determine the impact of cosmetics with pearls to facial characteristics of photoageing skin. Description of the study: 1. Analysis of scientific and professional literature, which aims to define the cause and prevention and highlight cosmetics with pearls effects to photoageing skin. 2. The study, whose purpose is to determine the impact of cosmetics with pearls effect to photoageing skin. Methodology of the study: With target selection there were picked 5 women who voluntary agreed to participate in the study with purpose to find out the impact of the cosmetics with pearls to photoageing skin. Cosmetic procedures were carried out in the course: one procedure a week for 4 weeks. Before each procedure and for lasting phenomena (in two weeks) skin setting were measured by diagnostic equipment: humidity, elasticity, melanin, pigmentation, wrinkles, secretion of the sebaceous gland. The results of the changes were reflected in monitoring tables. Subjective assessment of the effects of skin procedures were carried out on the basis of the participants opinion. Conclusion were formed. Conclusions of the study: 1. The causes and symptoms of photoageing skin: ultraviolet radiation (in particular the maximum UVA 320-400 nm wave length) and artificial ultraviolet radiation (tanning) promote melanin production – skin pigmentation increases, dehydration, which leads the elasticity to decrease, the early folds and increased secretion of the sebaceous gland as a defence mechanism against UV radiation, in order to preserve the moisture in the skin. The life style influence – free radicals that are created by environment pollution also has cell damaging effect and causes skin pigmentation and dehydration. Harmful habits (smoking and alcohol consumption) slows down the blood flow in capillaries and stimulates premature formation of wrinkles, loss of skin color in the skin and pigmentation. 2. The prevention measures of photoageing skin contains a variety of materials, such as: adenosine, arbutin, niacinamide, beta - gliucans, histamine, retinoids, diacylglycerol, lactic, citric, hyaluronic, Kojic acids, rice wine, vitamins B6, B5, C, starch, plain oregano, Asian celandine, licorice root extracts, astragalus root, blue amber, camellia japonica oil and mineral ingredients (pearls, diamonds, gold). Cosmetics for photoageing skin contains active substances which have preageing, whitening, hydrating, antioxidant effects, also has depigmentation effect as inhibitor of tyrosinase. The growing popularity of mineral cosmetic products with pearls for photoageing skin lightens the skin because of pearl powder ability to act as a tyrosianse inhibitor also moisture the skin, because activates collagen synthesis. 3. After the course of procedures done with companies „Gemology“ pearls containing cosmetics, the positive changes of skin characteristics (the moisture, melanin, pigmentation, wrinkles, fatness of the skin) were captured by diagnostic equipment. After the completion of subjective assessment test (visual and sensational) emphasis on the improvement of aesthetic skin appearance and condition. According to the participants of the study, sensory skin sensation consistently increased, decreased the stretching feeling, kin sensitivity, skin became softer, more elastic. The most notable change of the sensational characteristic in the survey observed by participants were increased skin elasticity. Women were satisfied with visual changer: decreased skin roughness, irritation, skin became significantly lighter. The most notable visual characteristic observed by participants was the luminance of the skin. Therefore, it can be said that „Gemology“ cosmetic line with pearls meets the customer’s expectations. en
