Description:
Relevance. The patient is the most important person for whose well-being health care
services work. The fulfillment of patients needs and expectations is one of the indicators
showing the quality of health care services (Motiejūnienė, 2016). Kalibatiene et al., (2018) states
that coordinated health care activities are particularly important in surgery. A well-organized
nursing process has a major influence on the course and the outcome of surgical treatment. The
nurse independently plans and implements the nursing plan, assists surgeons, provides
psychological - spiritual support to patients and their relatives. Thus, patient satisfaction with
services is an indicator of the quality of health care facilities. (Atari, 2015). Therefore, our
society needs information about the quality of service that can be expected, the likely future
outcomes of healthcare, as it determines the right choice for who to trust their health and lives
when they fall ill. the patient, paying particular attention to his health care needs and, of course,
expectations. (Order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania approving the
Program for Improvement of the Quality of Health Care Services, 2017).
Aim of the study. To evaluate patient satisfaction with postoperative nursing.
Objectives:
1. Define the concept of perioperative period.
2. To determine the factors determining patient satisfaction with perioperative nursing.
3. To evaluate patient satisfaction with nursing services during the perioperative period.
Research Method - Quantitative Research, Anonymous Questionnaire. The contingent
of the subjects consists of adult patients at X hospital, general surgery department Study sample -
85 respondents. Statistical data analysis was performed using a Microsoft Excel computer
program.
Results and conclusions: Perioperative Period The period between the decision of the
surgeon to perform the operation and the patient's return to work after surgery or loss
Perioperative nursing includes 3 periods: preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative. The
results of the study showed that the most important factors determining patient satisfaction with
perioperative nursing are the provision of purposeful and clear information, warm and pleasant
communication, manipulation, preoperative training, and respect for the patient. Slightly less
important factors in assessing perioperative nursing were environmental cleanliness and food quality. The survey found that while most respondents said they had answered their concerns,
only half of the subjects were satisfied with the information provided in the preoperative period
and two thirds of respondents were satisfied with the information provided in the postoperative
period. The overall satisfaction of patients in the General Surgery Unit of Hospital X, as
measured by the ten-point grading system, is very high. The vast majority of respondents say
they would re-select and recommend this facility to others. More than eight tenths of the
respondents indicated that they considered the role of the nurse important in the perioperative period.
