dc.description Relevance of the topic. Health is the most important and most valuable asset of the entire nation and the state. According to Juodvalkienė et al. (2014) children are full-fledged citizens of tomorrow's society, and their personal development, experience and ability to act is a prerequisite for progress and quality of their lives. The latter is based on good health. Researchers Andruskiene et al. (2013, p. 116) predicate that "there is not much data on the oral health of children parenting in Lithuania and the attitude towards the development of children's oral care skills, and the parents' attitude towards proper oral hygiene education is related to their own oral hygiene skills and the importance of parenting in developing children's oral hygiene skills ". According to the Order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania on the approval of the National Dental Health Program 2016 – 2020 (2016, p.2), "personal oral hygiene, oral prophylaxis is the most cost-effective investment in oral health". Aim of the study – evaluate the parental attitudes in pre-school age children the importance of individual oral hygiene. Goals: 1. Teoretically describe the importance of individual oral hygiene in pre-school childres age; 2. To describe the basic dental diseases of pre-school children; 3. Compare the attitude of parents in Lithuania and Germany in the importance of individual oral hygiene in pre-school children. Methods of the study. According to the study aim and goals, quantitative study method was chosen. During this method data was collected using questionnaire survey. Respondents had an online link with a questionnaire. Using the online link questionnaire was submitted to parents and parents with children, who lives in Lithuania and Germany. The results were aggregated and processed using IBM SPSS Statictic 20 for mac program. Results of the research.The results of the research showed that people from Lithuania have less knowledge about the oral hygiene of pre-school children and lack of awareness of its importance in the young age compared with the Germans. More attention needs to be paid to parenting education about oral hygiene precedures, illnesses and awareness to get acquainted with prevention programs. Conclusions: 1. Individual oral hygiene is a daily oral care. Which is performed by the person with his own hygiene tools, which removes soft plaque from the tongue, tooth and gum surfaces: mechanically of chemically. This is the main preventive measure, which can help reduce the incidence of oral diseases and preserve oral health. 2. The main pre-school children's dental diseases 6 are carcasses and early eaters. Tooth decay is one of the most common infectious diseases that affects most children all over the world. This form of aggressive and untreated tooth decay can cause large cartilage cavities in the teeth and spread rapidly. Another is still a rapidly spreading disease of early childhood caries. It is a chronic infectious disease that affects the carious lesions of many dental caries. It develops when the baby is fed from the bottle longer than usual. 3. The results of the research showed that the German are more concerned about the individual oral hygiene of their children than Lithuanians, they are more aware of its importance and glance and practically carry out the recommendations of dental practitioners, while Lithuanians still have less knowledge about the proper individual oral hygiene of their children, and even more difficult getting knowledge into practice. Lithuanians increasingly rely on information obtained from the television or the internet than from dentists. Unfortunately, but majority of Lithuanians still underestimate importance of children individual oral hygiene. en
