It is noticeable that in the last ten years more massive events are organized in Lithuania. Even though most people take it as a positive thing, there are a lot of negative aspects as well. These negative aspects become crucial when the event is organized inside of museum territory. All items that museum has are authentic and during the event, there is a possibility of damaging them. Work aim is: to analyze the impact of mega events on the popularity of museums. Work objectives: to analyze what is a massive event, how museums are classified and possibilities on increasing popularity of a museum; to analyze the attendance of Kaunas region museums and the number of massive events organized in them; to carry out research of four museum specialists and visitors of museums and massive events; to provide suggestions how to increase museum popularity by organising events. Methods of work: scientific literature analysis, statistics analysis, interview and quantitative research analysis, SWOT analysis. Work results: the concept of a massive event, how museums are classified and what are the possibilities of popularity of them are clarified in the theoretical part. The analysis of the museum attendance and number of the massive events that was done in analytical part showed that increase in massive events resulted in the increase in museum attendance. Interview questions to museums specialists showed that damage to museum inventory is not the only problem related to massive events. Survey results revealed that massive events that are organised in museums increase people‘s interest in museum exposition as well. Conclusions: all in all it is noticable that massive events in do actually increase their popularity. However, the research results point organisational problems related to the projects. dc.description.abstract Pastarąjį dešimtmetį Lietuvoje itin išaugo masinių renginių skaičius. Pastebima, kad organizuojama vis daugiau pramoginių renginių. Tačiau renginiai suteikia ne tik naudos, bet ir atitinkamai žalos. Padaroma žala tampa itin aktuali, kuomet renginys įtrauktas į muziejaus teritoriją, nes tokiu atveju niokojami autentiški eksponatai. Darbo metodai: mokslinės literatūros analizė, statistinių duomenų analizė, interviu ir kiekybinio tyrimo analizė, SSGG analizė. Darbą sudaro 64 puslapiai, 11 lentelių, 13 paveikslų, 36 literatūros ir informacijos šaltiniai, 2 priedai. en_US
