| dc.description | The sculpture of Christ's ancestor belongs to the Kaunas St. Church of St. George the Martyr.. This sculpture has its place in the great altar thats very unique. The exact time of when the sculpture was made is not known, but it is believed that it belongs to the beginning of the XVIII century. The fact that sculpture belongs to the Baroque period is evidenced not only by the outfit, but also by the expression of the drapery, hand gesture, face. The sculpture of Christ's ancestor is carved from lime tree wood, hands and a dagger are fixed separately. The sculpture is decorated with a helmet with ostrich feathers, a cloak to the ground, and wears clothes and shoes characteristic of the Roman Ancient Empire. Dominated by white color and golden details. The sculpture has been transferred for preservation because it is strongly affected by environmental conditions – moisture, entomological pests, temperature changes. The sculpture was painted several times, hiding its true beauty. The polychrome layer has risen in places. Wood on the back side softened, cracked. The splits can also be seen from the front. The goal is to preserve the sculpture, to stop further decay. Clean dirt, strengthen the polychrome layer, and wood. Prepare the sculpture for further restoration. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Kristaus protėvio skulptūra priklauso Kauno Šv. Jurgio kankinio bažnyčiai. Ši skulptūra užimą vietą unikaliame didžiojo altoriaus siužete. Tikslus skulptūros pagaminimo laikas nėra žinomas, bet manoma, kad tai yra XVIII pradžia. Kad skulptūra baroko laikotarpio, liudija ne tik apranga, bet ir apsiauto draperijos, rankos mostas, veido išraiška. Kristaus protėvio skulptūra išdrožta iš liepos medienos, rankos ir durklas pritvirtinti atskirai. Skulptūrą puošia šalmas su stručio plunksnomis, apsiaustas iki žemės, dėvi Romos antikinei imperijai būdingus drabužius bei batus. Dominuoja balta spalva ir auksinės detalės. Skulptūra perduota konservuoti, nes yra stipriai paveikta aplinkos sąlygų – drėgmės, entomologinių kenkėjų, temperatūrų kaitos. Skulptūra buvo kelis kartus uždažyta, paslėpta jos tikrasis grožis. Grunto sluoksnis vietomis pakilęs, yra netekčių. Mediena nugarinėje pusėje suminkštėjusi, suskilusi. Skilimai matomi ir iš priekio. Tikslas konservuoti skulptūra, sustabdyti tolimesnį irimą. Nuvalyti nešvarumus, sutvirtinti polichromijos sluoksnį, bei medieną. Paruošti skulptūrą tolimesniam restauravimui. | en_US |
