Ernestas S. Changes in the sensitivity of bacteria to aminoglycosides by bacteria with low antibiotic doses. Bachelor thesis / Guiding lect. Jūratė Kazlauskienė, Kaunas College, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biomedical Diagnostics. Kaunas 2018.
The problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics is an ever-increasing problem, making more treatment difficulties, increasing the cost of treatment, and having a high mortality rate.
The aim of the study: is to determine how the sensitivity of bacteria to aminoglycosides changes when bacteria are exposed to low antibiotic doses
Tasks: 1. Describe subjects of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria, couses, mechanisms, and effects on humans health and activities.2. Determine bacterial suceptability in used test subjects. 3.Determine how sensitivity of bacteria to aminoglycosides changes when bacteria are exposed low doses of antibiotics.
Methodology: The experiment was carried out in Kauno college, Medicine faculty, department’s Biomedicine diagnostics laboratory, with 3 ethalon strains of bacteria. Bacterial susceptibility tests were carried out with 8 different antibiotics. Tests to determine how bacteria resistance changes, when exposed to low doses of antibiotics where carried out using 2 different antibiotics.
Results and conclusions: Out of three tested strains of bacteria, P.aeroginosa was least susceptible, only affected by 3 antibiotics, while S.aureus was most susceptible, affected by all used antibiotics, as well as having largest inhibitory fields. When expsed to low doses of antibiotics, bacteria were observedto have inhibited theyr rate of growth, expecially in E.coli exposed to gentamycin. P.aeroginosa, when exposed to antibiotics, were observed to lack any pigmentation. However, despite that bacterial resistance to antibiotics did not display any significant changes in antimicrobial resistance. |

Tyrimas atiliktas Kauno kolegijos, Medicinos fakulteto, Biomedicinos diagnostikos katedros laboratorijoje, tyrimui naudotos etaloninės E.coli P.aeroginosa, bei S.aureus kultūros. |
