The relevance of work: Depression is one of the most common psychological problems in Lithuania and around the world. Researchers are assuming that by 2020 the disease will be in all age groups - children, midlife and older adults. Depression will be the leading cause of disability in the world, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). It is important for occupational therapists to investigate depression in order to find out what encourages the diagnosis of the disease. It is easiest way to choose the selection of targeted activities and tasks, increasing motivation for the patients to work, improving their autonomy and quality of life, the occupational therapist helps to return to the day-to-day activities. The aim of the study: is to analyze the people with depression, quality of life and motivation for health. Questions: 1. Can you identify what problems you encounter when dealing with depression? 2. Can you answer the meaning of your life? (Do you have any goals?) 3. Would you like to recover and return to your daily / favorite activities? Methods of investigation: The study was carried out at the VŠĮ Respublikinė Kauno hospital, Marių Sector, Psychiatric Clinic. To achieve the purpose of the research was chosen the type of qualitative research. The study involved 5 people, 3 women and 2 men. Investigation contingency was 48-67 m. age persons. All subjects involved in the study were diagnosed with depression without psychosocial elements. Results of the research: the themes and sub-themes revealed in the research: 1. Problems with depression (Sub-themes: circumstances of confirmation of diagnosis, symptomatic, suicidal thoughts, concomitant diseases, relations with others); 2. Quality of life and its meaning (Sub-themes: change in quality of life, loss of relatives, loneliness, use of medicines, social status); 3. Motivation (Sub-themes: purpose / goal, leisure, self-image 5-10 years, pets, responsibility for your own health). Insights: 1. The main problems experienced by depressed people are: constant stress and anxiety, frequent disagreements with relatives / friends, feeling unwell, lack of mood, feeling of solitude, increasing suicidal thoughts, sleep disturbances, inability to work, lack of motivation and self-confidence. 2. People with depression view their meaning of life, have their own aspirations and desires. Some of the patients associate the future with children, grandchildren, others see the meaning of life when traveling around the world, and the rest has no doubt to achieve something in their lives. 3. People with depression want to recover and return to their favorite activities. They are trying to engage in their favorite activities: reading books, solving crossword puzzles, crocheting, going for a walk, gather mushrooms, origami, listening to music. en
dc.description.abstract Darbe supažindinama su depresija, jos samprata bei paplitimu. Rašoma apie depresijos priežastingumą, jos pasireiškimo formas, esamus simptomus. Taip pat analizuojama gyvenimo kokybė ir motyvacija. Darbe pateikiami tyrimo metu gauti rezultatai, jų analizė. Taip pat pateikiamos įžvalgos ir siūlomos rekomendacijos ergoterapeutams, dirbantiems su asmenimis, sergančiais depresija. en_US
