dc.description Anemia is a major health problem in the world. According to the WHO, 40-80 percentage of the world's population is suffering from anemia in weak countries and 8-20 percentage in strong countries, meanwhile in Lithuania -12,8 percentage. Research has shown that anemia is associated with senior’s lower standard of living. The most common are iron deficiency, vitamin B12, folate deficiency anemia and chronic disease anemia. In the past, for diagnosis of anemia it was enough to know changes in Hb levels but now hematologic analyzers can identify not just the main blood indicators: leukocytes, red blood cells, hemoglobin, now they are able to identify hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration and red cell distribution width. In the final bachelor thesis, it is analyzed how anemia is classified, based on changes of red blood cell indices. The research was conducted at X polyclinic. Patients were selected with low hemoglobin; those who has > 120 g/l or >130 g/l hemoglobin was not selected. Blood tests were analyzed and divided into groups according to the degree of severity of anemia. Then each case was assigned to an anemia type according to changes in erythrocyte indices. The first part of the work presents theory of laboratory anemic diagnostics. The second part describes progress and results of the study. For my research I had set 3 tasks: 1) Describe anemia, it’s classification and laboratory diagnosis; 2) Identify the number of anemia based on changes in color indices depending on decrease in hemoglobin; 3) Reveal what anemia usually predominates between women and men depending on age. The research revealed that at X polyclinic, with red blood color indices changes there are more cases of women. In all groups of age in women and men also, there was noticed chronic disease anemias. en
