dc.description	Topic relevance: society is aging rapidly, therefore the demand for social care homes for the elderly is increasing. Settling in social care homes is not an ordinary process, thus elder people must deal with adaptation peculiarities. Adaptation is defined as a person’s ability to adjust to changing surroundings, its success depends on personal traits, social environmental conditions, assistance received while adapting in an unfamiliar setting. The readjustment process of both elderly and old people is supervised by social workers whose responsibility is to aid for a smoother adaptation process and integration to society. Dilemma of the study: peculiarities of adaptation of elderly and old people in social care homes. Object: peculiarities of adaptation of elderly and old people in social care homes. Aim of the study: to reveal characteristics of elderly and old people adaptation in social care homes. Objectives: 1. Introduce theoretical concept of aging; 2. Portray the adaptation process of elderly and old people in social care homes; 3. Distinguish social worker duties regarding elderly and old people adaptation process in communal care homes; 4. Identify readjustment peculiarities of elderly and old people in social care homes. Methodology of research: 1. Analysis of scientific literature, legislations, factual reports. 2. Written survey and its statistical analysis. Participants – elderly and old residents living in social care homes. Conclusion: it was established that after the transition to communal care home the worries of the respondents decreased. However, readjustment to a new life stage was difficult because most of their usual lifestyle habits were altered, also they had to leave their homes. The research revealed that communal care home social workers and personnel help, also provided individual attention are beneficial for successful aged people adaptation process. The majority of respondents concluded that a social worker was the most important person during the adjustment process because she or he aided them to get acquainted with other residents and different surroundings. Another issue that has an unfavorable outcome for adaptation success is the lack of contact with the loved ones.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	Temos aktualumas: visuomenė sparčiai sensta, todėl didėja socialinės globos namų poreikis pagyvenusiems ir seniems žmonėms. Apsigyvenimas socialinės globos namuose nėra lengvas procesas, todėl senyvo amžiaus žmonėms tenka susidurti su adaptacijos ypatumais. Adaptacija suprantama kaip asmens prisitaikymas prie kintančių aplinkos veiksnių, o jos sėkmė priklauso nuo asmenybės savybių, socialinės aplinkos teikiamų sąlygų, pagalbos adaptuotis naujoje aplinkoje. Pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos procese dalyvauja socialiniai darbuotojai, kurie padeda šiems asmenims lengviau prisitaikyti ir integruotis į visuomenę. Tyrimo problema: pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos ypatumai socialinės globos namuose. Tyrimo objektas: pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos ypatumai socialinės globos namuose. Tyrimo tikslas: atskleisti pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos ypatumus socialinės globos namuose. Tyrimo uždaviniai: 1. Pateikti teorinę senėjimo sampratą; 2. Aprašyti pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos procesą socialinės globos namuose; 3. Išskirti socialinio darbuotojo veiklą pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos metu socialinės globos namuose; 4. Identifikuoti pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos ypatumus socialinės globos namuose. Tyrimo metodika: 1. Mokslinės literatūros, teisės aktų, mokslinių straipsnių analizė. 2. Apklausa raštu ir statistinė apklausos duomenų analizė. Tiriamieji – pagyvenę ir seni žmonės gyvenantys socialinės globos namuose. Tyrimo išvada: identifikuota, kad persikėlus į socialinės globos įstaigą, sumažėjo respondentų rūpesčiai, tačiau prisitaikyti prie naujo gyvenimo etapo jiems buvo sunku, nes teko keisti savo gyvenimo įpročius, palikti namus. Tyrimas atskleidė, kad sėkmingam senyvo amžiaus žmonių adaptacijos procesui labiausiai reikalinga socialinės globos įstaigos socialinio darbuotojo ir personalo pagalba bei jų teikiamas individualus dėmesys kiekvienam asmeniui pagal poreikį. Socialinis darbuotojas daugumai respondentų yra svarbiausias asmuo adaptacijos laikotarpiu, nes jis padėjo apsiprasti prie naujos aplinkos, susipažinti su kitais gyventojais. Ryšio su artimaisiais trūkumas apsunkina pagyvenusių ir senų žmonių adaptacijos procesą naujoje gyvenamoje aplinkoje.	en_US
