dc.description “Valuation of the radiology technologists’ knowledge about Computed Tomography procedures of the head”. Kaunas, 54 p. It is important to raise the qualifications of radiology technologists, evaluate their knowledge, practical skills, the ability to work with ionizing and non-ionizing radiation sources and auxiliary equipment to ensure the quality of the performed CT procedures and the radiation protection of patients and others. Aim – to evaluate the radiology technologists’ knowledge of the performance of Computed Tomography procedures of the head. Goals: 1) to reveal the peculiarities of the work of radiology technologists in the field of computed tomography procedures; 2) to reveal the methodology of performing medical procedures for computed tomography in the head area; 3) to evaluate the knowledge and practical skills of radiology technologists in the field of medical CT scans of the head area. Methodology: The survey was completed in 2018. March - April LSMUL VšĮ KK, LSMUL VšĮ KK FOL, VšĮ Republican Kaunas Hospital, UAB “Affidea Lietuva” Siauliai. The method of anonymous questionnaire surveyed 50 radiology technologists (response rate - 88.0%). Targeted selection of two groups of subjects was 100.0%. (N=44): Group A (N=37) - LSMUL VšĮ KK, LSMUL VšĮ KK FOL, VšĮ Republican Kaunas Hospital; Group B (N=7) respondents working with computed tomography and performing CT scan procedures in the Siauliai branch of UAB “Affidea Lietuva”. The survey is based on a questionnaire prepared by the author. Issued by the Center of Bioethics at LSMU, 13-03-2018, No. BEC-KK (B) -22. Scientific contracting contracts: 13-03-2018, No. F23-210; 18-04-2018, No F23-258. Statistical analysis of data. Results of the Research: In Group A 51.4% respondents choose a thicker layer of the head area thickness while scanning, although in Group B - 28.6%. Group A respondents are more likely to perform sagittal reconstructions (p=0.003) in the procedure of acupuncture CT in comparison with Group B respondents. Group A - 70.3 % respondents are less likely to provide information for the patient to use additional fluids compared to 100.0% of group B respondents. Conclusions: Radiologists are able to perform precise and safe radiological procedures of the CT of the head area, to ensure the quality of the procedure and patient welfare. Radiology technologists can prepare the patient for CT scan procedures, are responsible for the protection of patients and others, organize workplace and collaborate in a team. The majority of the two groups of radiology technologists are able to perform CT scan procedures according to the appointment indications. Radiology technologists have enough knowledge and competence to carry out the procedures of the head CT in accordance with various testing methods. Both groups of radiology technologists have enough knowledge and practical skills to correctly perform CT scan procedures. Prepared practical recommendations for radiology technologists and patients. en
