dc.description Relevance of the topic: The adaptation process of the child when his/her life conditions changes, e.g. upon enrolling into the pre-school education institution, is crucial in pedagogy. In this case, children are no exception, as they face the necessity of adaptation at a relatively young age. According to Juodraitis (2004), “the success or failure of the adaptation depends on some personality traits as well as requirements and support of one's social environment.” However, the child can always receive the greatest support and encouragement from his/her close relatives. It is important to not forget that the successful adaptation of the child is possible only with the assistance of his/her parents. They should bring the child to the kindergarten, teach him/her about the joys of meeting new friends, and help him/her achieve positive mindset so that the first steps would be taken in a calmer manner. Child’s socialization is a long and complex process (Leliūgienė, 2003) During this process, it is crucial to not leave the child alone especially in the new environment. Adaptation is similar to socialization, as the child attempts to involve him/herself in the environment and accept new friends. Problem of the thesis: what are opportunities of successful adaptation of 3-to-4-year-old children in the pre-school education institutions? This thesis raises the following problematic questions: what is adaptation and on what factors does it depend? How to ensure successful adaptation for a child? What pedagogues and parents should do to ensure easy adaptation for children? Object of the thesis: opportunities of successful adaptation of 3 to 4 year old children in the pre-school education institution. Aim of the thesis: to reveal opportunities of successful adaptation of 3 to 4 year old children in the preschool education institution. Objectives of the thesis: 1. To theoretically justify the phenomenon of adaptation. 2. To empirically determine parents and pedagogues’ attitude towards the factors of successful adaptation of 3-to-4-year-old children in the pre-school education institution. 3. To initiate, plan, and realize the educational project in the pre-school education institution. Methods: analysis of scientific literature; survey (oral and written). Results of the research: Pedagogues acknowledge the main difficulty in adaptation, which is that parents do not prepare their children for the kindergarten. According to them, parents do not teach their children to be independent. Personality traits and determination of the child are also distinguished. Parents and pedagogues believe that individual traits of the child and adequate preparation are also underlying factors. en
