dc.description Kristina Vilimaitė, a student of the Pharmacy Engineering study program, has prepared a final thesis „Need for advice from a pharmaceutical specialist for improving the quality of life for women with chronic diseases during the menopause“. Bachelor's thesis supervisor: lecturer Laimutė Jonaitienė. Kaunas College, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pharmacotechnology, Kaunas; 2019. Андреева, Е. Н., and Григорян, О. Р., (2007) argues that the likelihood of menopausal syndrome increases with age. It is known that the life expectancy of women has increased overall over the last 30-40 years, but the progression of chronic diseases during menopause accelerated. Therefore, an analysis was performed which took into account the age of the patients and the menopausal syndrome. This analysis has shown that the age of patients is not a direct «prophet» of the menopause period. According to Доброхотова, Ю. Э., (2004) it is believed that menopause syndrome is a certain complex of symptoms that complicates the natural course of menopause. Also, the climacteric period is understood as a multifunctional disease, the development of which is influenced by hormonal regulation, heredity, influence of environmental factors, psychological condition of the person. A menopausal clinical and therapeutic study has been conducted to show that the menopausal period has a very important medical and social significance for the exacerbation of female chronic diseases during the menopause. Therefore, it can be said that during menopause, chronic illness is only exacerbated by excessive physical and emotional stress in the daily life of women. Work objective. To disclose the need for a pharmaceutical specialist consultation to improve the quality of life of women with chronic diseases during the menopause. Work tasks: 1. Explain the emergence and exacerbation of chronic diseases during menopause. 2. Theoretically justify the importance of the need for consultation with a pharmaceutical specialist to improve the quality of life of women with chronic diseases during menopause. 3. To investigate the need for consultation with a pharmaceutical specialist for women with chronic diseases during the menopause. Description of the final work. Introduction - reveals the purpose, tasks of work, relevance of the topic, research methods and take. Literature analysis consisting of two sections. The first consists of five subdivisions that theoretically justify: the importance of the role of a pharmaceutical specialist; the influence of age on women's health and quality of life; hormone replacement therapy; alternative methods of treating menopause are also describing that a pharmaceutical specialist is an integral part of health care in our society. The second chapter describes a quantitative study that analyzes the 7 results of the questionnaires and summarizes the survey data. The final bachelor thesis consists of 39 pages, 24 literature and other sources of scientific information and 10 pictures. Methodology of investigation. Research literature analysis, questionnaire anonymous survey, statistical data analysis were used for the research. A quantitative survey was performed, the data collection method was chosen - anonymous questionnaire. The questionnaire was conducted in public pharmacies. The survey took place from 20 to 30 April. The survey instrument - the questionnaire consisted of 10 closed questions. Data analysis and aggregation was performed using MS Excel 2013 software. Research results. The study showed that the majority of women in the study (59 percent) thought that menopause was not a disease but a natural aging process, meanwhile 19 percent of women thinks that menopause is like a disease. 10 percent respondents believe that it is physiological, psychological, hormonal changes in the body, that it's a "healthy disorder" and the main negative symptoms of menopause are hot flush (53 percent complained), sweating (67 percent of respondents), mood swings (39 percent) and insomnia (34 percent). These are the traditional symptoms of menopause in many authors (Zakarauskiene, 2012). Women name the hot flush as the most lifethreatening symptom (Mačiulaitiene, Vaitkiene, 2007). Expressed vasomotor clinic including abundant sweating is estimated at 70-75 percent of women (Raus et al., 2006). The study showed an increase in cardiovascular disease (from 28 to 36 percent) in menopause, bone thinning (8 to 18 percent), atherosclerosis (4 to 6 percent) and urinary disorders (27 percent) in women before menopause (19 percent). In the majority of respondents with negative sensations, menopausal drugs were used to eliminate the symptoms. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been shown to 20 percent surveyed respondents. This could be due to side effects caused by PHT preparations. For example, scientists who carried out one of the Continuous Clinical Trials (HHIs) halted the study early because they found that long-term use of estrogens and progestins increases the risk of morbidity among women. An alternative to hormone therapy may be herbal medicines and homeopathic remedies that make the menopause progressive to physiological (Zakarauskiene, 2012). The study showed that most of the respondents used herbal remedies to eliminate menopausal symptoms, of which 30 percent - homeopathic preparations, 40 percent healed phytotherapy, food supplements and vitamins, 10 percent of respondents used herbal medicines. The results of the study show that respondents are more likely to use herbal medicines, although there is little clinical evidence of their efficacy and weaker effects compared to hormonal drugs (Rees, 2009). The study found that the majority of respondents to menopausal symptoms contact doctors, but also pharmacists advice appeals about 90 percent of respondents. Women want information to be provided orally, but in conjunction with split material (45 percent), at least 59 percent of women 8 believe that menopause is a natural aging process, however, (30 percent) of women do not want their pharmacy clients to hear about their problems during menopause and the information was provided in a separate room (even 8 women think it is a shameful period of life). Conclusions: 1. According to the study, respondents were suffering from many chronic diseases before menopause, but during menopause, chronic diseases became more active due to inadequate hormonal regulation, heredity, influence of environmental factors, inadequate lifestyle, psychological condition. 2. When interviewing respondents, it can be assumed that the need for advice from a pharmaceutical specialist in improving the quality of life of women during menopause, women are happy to opt for a service provided by a pharmaceutical specialist, justifying that they receive additional, more detailed information on medical treatment and preventive treatment, which are not as thoroughly presented by other health care professionals. 3. The results of the research revealed that respondents with chronic illnesses during the menopause have contacted the doctors and other health care professionals treating them, but even 90 percent of respondents who participated in the study soon wish the services of a pharmaceutical specialist. en_US
