Kaunas Aim of the research: To reveal the attitude of inhabitants and pharmacy specialists towards the use of food supplements. Objectives of the research: 1. To emphasize the concept of food supplements, their effect, and classification in theoretical context. 2. To describe the peculiarities of the use of food supplements according to different demographic and geographic factors. 3. Identify the attitude of inhabitants and pharmacy specialists towards the use of food supplements. Final Bachelor Thesis analyses the attitude of inhabitants and pharmacy specialists towards the use of food supplements. It describes food supplements, their effect on the human body as well as the large classification of food supplements. A detailed description of the concept is provided, and definitions made by various authors are compared. The popularity of the use of food supplements under different social, geographic and demographic factors are analyzed. According to acts of the law of the Republic of Lithuania regulating food supplements, legal requirements for food supplements are described. The use of food supplements is a widespread phenomenon in our society because the nutrition of most inhabitants is not wholesome. Consumption of products containing lots of vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates is steadily decreasing. Therefore, in such a case food supplements can help and provide the human body with the substances it needs. However, different opinions about the use of food supplements exist. Some people think that food supplements can provide the human body with the substances it needs, the others do not use them because, in their opinion, it is not an effective choice. Literature analysis shows that inhabitants lack of knowledge about food supplements and that is the reason why food supplements are used improperly and thus people do not get the desired effect. However, during the research of the final bachelor thesis, these claims were denied and the analysis showed that the society is educated enough. The quantitative content analysis method was chosen when carrying out the research work during which information about the attitude of inhabitants and pharmacy specialists towards the use of food supplements was collected and their opinions were compared. The method of analysis - the questionnaire. The questionnaire was handed out to the inhabitants and pharmacy 10 specialists in Lazdijai Town. An anonymous questionnaire was handed out to the most inhabitants of various age groups in the pharmacy. The analysis of the results showed that most of the respondents use food supplements. The most popular food supplements are those for the improvement of the general well-being or strengthening of the immune system. This shows that the use of food supplements in the contemporary society is very popular. Results of the research revealed that both pharmacy specialists and inhabitants think that food supplements are effective however not necessary to the human body. The analysis showed that the use of food supplements depends on social, demographic, and geographic factors as the results revealed the fact that if parents use food supplements, they will encourage their children to do the same. According to inhabitants, their knowledge about food supplements is sufficient however if they lack information, they can find it on the Internet or ask pharmacy specialist who could provide more detailed information and consultation. en_US

Aprašyta maisto papildų vartojimo ypatybės esant skirtingiems demografiniams ir geografiniams veiksniams bei maisto papildų vartojimui, platinimui ir gamybai keliami teisiniai reikalavimai. Nustatytas gyventojų ir farmacijos specialistų požiūris į maisto papildų vartojimą. Išnagrinėjus mokslinę literatūrą bei atlikus duomenų analizę buvo pateiktos išvados. Darbą sudaro įvadas, trys skyriai, rezultatų analizė, rezultatų aptarimas, išvados, literatūros sąrašas, priedai. Darbo apimtis – 55psl. 39 bibliografinių šaltinių. en_US
