Santrauka:
Description:
Relevance of the topic. The use of alcohol, drugs and other psychoactive substances, as well as other addiction-related problems in the society raise many questions and make us look for more effective methods of solving these problems. The writing of this thesis began with the intention of finding out about the most effective methods of overcoming addiction, what kind of help would the healers themselves want, what sort of effect does the family have in the healing process, and what the social workers think about it. The topic of addiction is analyzed in many articles, but the addict himself is rarely asked about his experience and what actually helped him overcome his addiction. The aim of the work. To reveal effective methods of helping people who are addicted to psychoactive substances. Object of work. Effective methods of help that are applied when dealing with people who are addicted to psychoactive substances. The question of research. What are the effective helping methods for dealing with people addicted to psychoactive substances? The research method. The analysis of scientific literature and legislation. The study was conducted using qualitative data collection and processing techniques. The first method – a open sentences method, using open-ended questionnaire. The second method that is an expert semi-structured interview. Two social workers have been selected to work with individuals with psychoactive substance dependence. The subjects were selected using purposive convenience sampling technique. 16 members of a rehabilitation community “X” were interviewed. Two social workers, who work in such institutions or with such people, were also interviewed. Conclusions of the research. After interviewing both the addicted persons and the social workers, it is possible to distinguish the most effective methods that help to overcome addiction. These are the twelve-step program, community, individual counseling, relapse prevention, work therapy. A twelve-step program thoroughly allows people to get to know themselves and understand their addiction. The community helps to learn healthy confrontation, give notes and learn to share feelings and emotions together. Prevention of relapse is a significant part as well, since there are cases in which the addicts who have participated in the study get acquainted with their addiction and symptoms for the first time. Whereas, occupational therapy is important for a sober future.
