The aim: To evaluate the quality of springs‘ water according to the chemical indicators.
The objects:
1. To describe the impact of ammonium, nitrates, chlorides, sulfates and organic matter on thepeople health and to find out the reasons of the springs‘ water pollution.
2. To measure the quality of springs‘ water and to set quantity of ammonium, nitrates, chlorides, sulfates and organic matter in Kaunas County in different seasons of the year.
3. To compare the results of springs‘ water investigation estimated in different seasons.
Methodology of investigation : qualitative working method. The springs had been chosenknowing that residents use the water from the springs. The samples to measure the quality of water had been taken from ten different springs in Kaunas area. The water was measuredin autumn, in winter, in spring and in summer to find out the change of water quality indifferent seasons. Laboratory tests of water chemical indicators (ammonium, nitrates, chlorides, sulfates and organic matter ) had been done according to LAND standarts andby unified wastewater and surface water quality investigation methods.
The results: After the investigation of sulfates and organic matter in all seasons it was clear that the highest concentration of sulfates and organic matter was in winter, and the lowest concentration was in summer. The results of all samples differ little. The quantity of nitrates was similar in all places in autumn but the lowest level of nitrates and chlorides was found in winter. The investigation of ammonium nitrogen showed the similar results in different seasons. According to HN24 standarts the concentration of ammonium nitrogen and organic matter appeared to be immoderate. And this is why the usage of springs‘ water is not recommended.
Conclusions:
1. The pollution ofsprings‘ water is the result of human activity. Sulfates, ammonium nitrogen, chlorides, organic matter in small quantities don‘t do a huge harm to people but nitrates can causehypoxia.
2. Investigated springs‘ water does not meet the requirements of hygiene norms in ammonium nitrogen and organic matter and it is not recommended to usage.
3. After the investigation it is clear that the highest level of chloride ions, nitrates and ammonium nitrogen was in summer and the highest level of organic matter and sulfateswas in winter |

Darbo apimtis 36 puslapiai |
