dc.description Topic relevance: Society’s standards for women’s beauty can drive them to a variety of options to slow their aging and remain youthful due to old age being a sign for many of dependency of others and their help and physical fragility (Clarke, 2017). According to Clarke, old age and an elderly appearance affects females more than males. Therefore, in search of ways to stay youthful, women will seek out help in cosmetic procedures and when all else fails, they turn to more invasive procedures. One such procedure would be mesotherapy. Though it is considered one of the less invasive procedures, it can cause unwanted complications just like any other (Konda, Thappa, 2013). Thus it is important that women are well informed of mesotherapy and other similar procedures and their safety regulations. The goal of this dissertation is to disclose women’s knowledge about mesotherapy, its procedures and it’s safety regulations. Research problem: How knowledgeable about mesotherapy and its safety regulations are women? Research object: Women’s knowledge about mesotherapy and its safety regulations. Research goal: To disclose women’s knowledge about mesotherapy procedures and their safety regulations. Research tasks: 1. Describe mesotherapy, it’s procedures, compare it to other procedures yielding similar results; 2. Research mesotherapy safety regulations and complications that persist when regulations are dismissed; 3. Reveal women’s knowledge about mesotherapy and its safety regulations. Research methods: • Analysis of scientific and professional information sources of mesotherapy; • Data collection method- questionnaire survey with the goal of figuring out how knowledgeable women are about mesotherapy; • Data analysis method- written analysis with charts to display the collected data. Research survey sample: Survey sample were 50 women chosen through random selection. Research results and conclusion: After analyzing scientific and profession based information sources a brief description of mesotherapy, its procedures and safety regulations was written. Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure which applies injection methods to deliver active ingredients to the mesoderm without having to go through the digestive system and minimalizing the risk of systematic complications. The contents of the used mixtures depends on what cosmetic defect it is aimed to solve and which area of the body the procedure is meant for. The technique is not only applied in aesthetic dermatology but in other fields of medicine as well. Its use gained popularity during recent years but there is little scientific research proving its effectiveness. Even though the procedure is considered minimally invasive it does have the probability of causing complications if done incorrectly. Most commonly recorded complications of mesotherapy are linked to aseptic conditions and poor sanitation in the work area. After conducting the research which had the goal of disclosing how knowledgeable women are in regard to mesotherapy, from 50 participants a conclusion was made, that half of the participants did not even know what mesotherapy is. There may be a correlation between the lack of proof of the procedures effectiveness and how well known it is in everyday life. en
