dc.description Goal of research: To evaluate the actions taken by nurses while conducting a medical sorting of the patients in the reception. Methods of research: A qualitative research; a structured interview conducted by surveying 10 common practice nurses. Empirical research results: Only a part of nurses’ working with the patients’ sorting location opinions and experiences were revealed while conducting the investigation. The data of the research has revealed the actions taken by the nurses in the emergency department’s sorting location, as well as the problems that arise. The following categories have become clear based on questions asked and thoughts revealed: the actions taken by nurses during the sorting process; a medical sorting of the patients; an evaluation of the patient’s medical condition; the complications that arise during the medical sorting; emotions; the opinion of the nurses. Conclusions: 1) The work of nurses in the medical sorting of patients should be oriented to the rapid assessment of the patient's condition and its redirection to follow-up necessary treatment according to the patient's condition. According to the competence of nurses, when sorting patients they should not only be assigned to a particular category, but also necessary steps need to be taken to solve life and health problems. 2) In the research it is found that the work of nurses in the medical sorting of patients consist of assessment of the condition, recording of data and the execution of emergency actions within their competence in a life-threatening situation. All nurses have to sort the patients who are in life and health threatening condition with a doctor's supervision. For subjective reasons, half of nurses’ distribute categories by themselves and the other half do not. Less than half of nurses will consult a doctor if they are having difficulty sorting. Most often, when evaluating patient's condition, nurses are guided by patient’s complaints and their own observations. All nurses use a numerical scale to evaluate the patient's pain by first clarifying the meaning of the score. 3) The study showed that more than half of nurses think that GMP staff do not always sort out the patients incorrectly or do not sort them out at all. The same amount of nurses expressed the view that patients sometimes are transported to a heatlh care institution not according of their place of residence. Less than half of respondents claimed that GMP staff sometimes misunderstand their case-history. According to the nurses, some patients evaluate their pain deliberately or unconsciously mistakenly and some find it difficult to understand the digital scale of pain assessment. Less than half of nurses say the lack of seats in the help provision hall and the high patient flow is one of the obstacles for optimum performance of their work. More than half of nurses state that medically sorting the patients have no negative impact on their work. en_US
