dc.description The relevance of the work: Oncological patients suffer pain. According to global statistics, 18,1 million new cases of cancer have been registered worldwide in 2018. It is likely that this number will increase even more, i.e. by 20 million in the world until 2025. Oncological pain is a sensitive issue because about a half of the patients diagnosed with oncological disease already suffer pain, and when the disease spreads, the number of the patients who suffer pain further increases perceptibly, and one third of the patients suffer extremely intense and unbearable pain. In the fight against cancer, the worst thing is not only the pain suffered, but also the side effects of medication treatment. Therefore, the non-drug pain relief buses the sciences, helps point one‘s thought to other things and to reduce pain for at least a short time. The aim of research: to reveal the non-drug pain relief methods applied by nurses in reducing the pain suffered by oncological patients. The objectives of the paper are following: 1) To describe the non-drug pain relief methods that are applied in Oncology. 2) To find out the attitude of nurses towards the non-drug pain relief methods in oncological patients. 3) To present the generalized pain management methods in the practical activities of nurses. Methods: The study has been carried out in Y city, in X facility. The duration of the study – 1 month. 42 respondents took part in the study. The methods used: analysis of scientific literature, quantitative research (written survey of the nurses using a questionnaire), a statistical data analysis using Microsoft Excel software. The thesis has to parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part describes pain and its types, drug and non-drug pain relief methods and the influence of nurse in pain relief. The empirical part sets forth an attitude of nurses towards non-drug pain relief methods in oncological patients and presents the generalized pain management methods in the practical activities of nurses. The results and conclusions: An attitude of nurses in X facility towards non-drug pain relief methods has distributed as follows: the results showed that only one-fifth of the respondents agree with the statement that non-drug pain relief methods help reduce the pain suffered by oncological patients. almost a half of the respondents agree in part, and one-third of the respondents disagree with the statement. Two thirds of the respondents apply drug assisted pain relief methods in their practical activities, one-third of the respondents apply both drug assisted pain relief methods and non-drug pain relief methods. en_US
