dc.description Relevance of topic: In Europe about one out of five workers have a certain shift schedule associated with night work and one out of ten employees have more than five night shifts per month (Thun ir kt., 2014). In the health care sector ~ 25% of all employees working in hospitals and do not work traditional hours, so it might cause problems to their health (Tai SY ir kt., 2014). Purpose: To reveal the influence of night work on the physical and psychosocial health of nurses. Objectives: Define the concept of night work and it legal regulation in Lithuania. Describe the physical and psychosocial health problems caused by night work for nurses. To determine the physical and psychological changes in the body, caused by night work for nurses. To evaluate the impact of night work on nurses social life. Methods of study ant contingency: Literature analysis is performed. The qualitative research method was chosen. 10 general nurses working in different departments on night shifts were interviewed to determine the impact of night work on the physical and psychosocial health of nurses. Respondents were interviewed using the semi-structured interview method. Results and conclusions: Night work is a job whose time is defined from the twenty-second hour to the sixth hour in the morning. Night work affects the person's physical and psychosocial health. For a longer period of time at night shift nurses experience sleep disorders, changes in nutrition. Also, night work increases the risk of metabolic syndrome and cancer for nurses. Working at night also affects social life, as there are difficulties in carrying out normative family roles. The study revealed that nurses working at night shifts face physical and psychological disorders. Sleep disorders, changes in nutrition, increased gastric acidity, changes in the reproductive system are typical health problems. Respondents more often use glucose, caffeine, nicotine. Arterial blood pressure and heart rate are heavily influenced by night work.. Nurses feel stress, complain of increased nervousness and irritability, constant tension, anxiety, and strong psychological fatigue. Research shows that night work has a strong impact on the social life of nurses. Nurses say that work schedule like this causes conflicts in the family and in communication with friends. en_US
dc.description.abstract Literatūriškai aprašomo naktinio darbo samprata, teisinis reglamentavimas Lietuvoje, slaugytojams naktinio darbo sukeliamos fizinės ir psichosocialinės sveikatos problemos. Tyrimo metu vertinama ir gilinamasi į slaugytojų, dirbančių naktinėmis pamainomis, tokio darbo grafiko poveikį jų fizinei ir psichologinei sveikatai. Atskleidžiamas naktinio darbo poveikis slaugytojų socialiniam gyvenimui. en_US
