Relevance of the work: A full - fledged and healthy diet that complies with the recommendations for a pregnant woman leads to the health of a newborn, a baby, a child and an adult, so it is very important that pregnant women do not lack nutrients during pregnancy. In addition to that, recent reports from the western world shows, that sales figures of medicinal herbs are only increasing, and women during pregnancy are certainly not an exception to these rates. Aim of the study: To analyze peculiarities of food supplements and medicinal herbs consumption during pregnancy. Tasks: 1. To describe the importance of food supplements and medicinal herbs consumption during pregnancy. 2. Identify peculiarities of food supplements consumption during pregnancy. 3. Identify peculiarities of medicinal herbs consumption during pregnancy. 4. Identify women's knowledge about peculiarities of food supplements and medicinal herbs consumption during pregnancy. Methodology: Research instrument – survey. Participants of the study - all pregnant women who came to the X city’s clinical hospital for pregnancy counseling during the research period, which can read and write in Lithuanian. The results of the study: 1. The study found that more than a half of the pregnant women who took part in the study were taking food supplements during pregnancy and felt that they should be used during this time. Respondents mostly use folic acid, iron, magnesium, calcium, vitamin D and C during pregnancy. Consumption of food supplements is mostly recommended by gynecologist or general practitioners. The main reasons why food supplements are used, are the desire to strengthen immunity or compensate for the deficiency of vitamins / minerals during pregnancy. Their non - use is due to the lack of knowledge if they are lacking it and high price. 2. Most of the respondents used these herbal medicines: chamomile, cranberry, raspberry leaf tea, garlic and valerian. The main reason for the use is the desire to strengthen the immunity and the way of use is in the form of tea. Herbs are usually purchased in a pharmacy or obtained from family members or relatives. 3. The majority of respondents knew the benefits of vitamin D, folic acid and iron, ginger, cranberries and raspberries. Most of the respondents received recommendations on herbal medicine use from family members, about the use of dietary supplements – from a gynecologist. en
