dc.description	Relevance of the topic. Mental health and welfare are among the citizens’ rights of the European Union. These rights have recently become more and more important for social development and for economic growth. One of the main priorities of public health is the improvement of mental health. In order to ensure psychosocial human welfare and provide help for those who are in need, Lithuanian mental health strategy is being prepared. The treatment of individuals, who have mental disorders, is crucial, as partial recovery or full recovery is required. Therefore, in Lithuania some of special services have been developed for those people. Social workers help patients to integrate into society before they leave medical institutions. It is essential to be well informed about mental disorders, their consequences, and how to cope with them. Social workers promote full-fledged social activity of a person, his/her self-sufficiency, as well as patient’s ability to control his/her behaviour and ability to make right decisions. The aim of the thesis is to determine social worker’s activities with patients who have mental disorders in personal health care institutions. The objectives of the research: 1. To overview the characteristics of mental disorder. 2. To characterize the peculiarities of social work in stationary personal health care institutions. 3. To reveal the activity of a social worker with people who have mental disorders in stationary personal health care institutions. The object of the work is the activity of a social worker with people who have mental disorders in stationary personal health care institutions. Research question: what kind of social worker’s activity is involved while working with people who have mental disorders in stationary personal health care institutions? Methods of the research: qualitative research, semi-structured interview. In total, four social workers, who work with people having mental disorders in stationary personal health care institutions, have been interviewed. The analysis of the research was based on the data obtained from semi-structured interviews. Results of the research. The research has revealed the main social worker’s activities with patients having disorders: to evaluate and determine the requirements to help a patient and his/her family members, to plan out social services for a patient and his/her family members, to organize social provision of services for a patient and his/her family members. The job of a social worker at a stationary personal health care institution mostly involves counselling, but not organizing activities, except a variety of self-help and self-care courses.	en
dc.description.abstract	Psichikos sveikata ir gerovė yra Europos Sąjungos piliečių teisė. Ji tampa vis svarbesnė socialiniui vystymuisi ir ekonomikos augimui. Vienas pagrindinių visuomenės sveikatos prioritetų – psichikos sveikatos gerinimas. Siekiant užtikrinti psichosocialinę žmonių gerovę ir įvairiapusiškesnę pagalbą psichikos sveikatos problemų turintiems žmonėms, rengiama Lietuvos psichikos sveikatos strategija. Asmenims, kurie turi psichikos sutrikimų labai svarbus yra medicininis ir socialinių paslaugų gavimas bei dalinis arba visiškas pasveikimas. Šiems pacientams Lietuvoje yra aktyviai plėtojamos ir socialinės paslaugos. Labai svarbu būt tinkamai informuotam apie psichikos sutrikimus, jų padarinius, kaip kontroliuoti juos. Socialinis darbuotojas padeda pacientui integruotis į socialinę visuomenę prieš išeinant iš gydymo įstaigos. Jis skatina pilnavertį socialinį paciento funkcionavimą, skatina savarankiškumą, paciento gebėjimą kontroliuoti savo elgesį ir priimti teisingus sprendimus.	en_US
