dc.description Mantas Vaskela. Inflation and money purchasing power. Professional BA thesis. Supervisor - Lecturer Audrius Lukoševičius. Inflation and money purchasing power is one of the most important problem of macroeconomics. This problem requires thorough examination and strict control. Since money is the main mean of tender, which power to purchase goods and services is constantly getting weaker, thus in turn is a valid enough reason to analysis mention problem. Plunge of purchasing power of a currency directly effects every single owner of mentioned currency, thus this issue should be regarded by every currency owner as extremely important. There is a direct correlation between the amount of money being injected into a market every year and inflation itself, however, this issue is hardly mentioned anywhere, nor are there any discussions relating inflation in the context of amount of money released. The purpose of this work is by describing inflation and purchasing power of a currency, by analyzing dependency of these mentioned phenomenon, by using GDP and other important economic indicators, to reveal the relation and correlation between inflation and purchasing power. This work consist of two parts. First part consist of a deep theoretical analysis of inflation and purchasing power, furthermore, ideas of scholars from Lithuanian and other parts of the world are overviewed. Moreover, inflation is being classified in this work. Second part of this work consist of an empirical analysis and consideration. Also, logical reasoning is used to overview important economic indicators. Analysis of the work concluded that statistics of cost inflation does not show the real picture, and in reality results of inflation is much worse. It is also worth mentioning that statistics provided by central bank of Lithuania and department of statistics are very limited, nothing preceding 2006 can be found. In order to accurately describe the real situation of inflation, we must compare the differences between real and nominal GDP. Indicators that GDP of Lithuania is at still and soon will become negative are apparent. The amount of money being injected by central banks bypass the speed of development of GDP, thus further contributing in decrease in purchasing power of a currency. Other ideas and solutions are provided and explained in this work. This work consist of 49 pages, 18 tables, 32 information sources, 9 appendix. en
