COVID-19 pandemijos laikotarpiu Lietuvoje, kaip ir kitose pasaulio šalyse, išaugo socialinių paslaugų poreikis. Tuo metu socialiniai darbuotojai ne tik turėjo teikti paslaugas rizikingomis ir išaugusio darbo krūvio sąlygomis, bet ir prisitaikyti prie naujų darbo sąlygų (reikalavimų). Ypač didelius profesinius iššūkius patyrė stacionariose gydymo įstaigose dirbantys socialiniai darbuotojai, - jiems kontaktiniu būdu teko bendrauti su sergančiais COVID-19 liga pacientais, juos atstovauti, teikti psichosocialinę pagalbą, rasti naujų būdų, kaip pandemijos metu palaikyti ryšius su paciento šeima.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in Lithuania, as well as in other countries of the world the need for social services has increased. During the pandemic period, social workers had to provide services in risky and increased workload conditions but also had to adapt to new working conditions (requirements). Social workers working in inpatient care institutions experienced serious professional challenges - they had to interact with patients who were infected with COVID-19, represent them, provide them with psychosocial support, and find ways to keep in touch with the patient's family during a pandemic.
