Santrauka:
Description:
The topic of the professional bachelor: Manufacturing Technology of Gel with Thyme and
Propolis Extracts for Acne Treatment and Its Quality Research.
Keywords: gel, acne, thyme and propolis extracts, production.
The relevance of the topic: Acne is one of the most common skin conditions not only
among teenagers but also among adults. Topical antimicrobials are commonly used to treat acne.
The problem of the research: How to make a gel with thyme and propolis extracts for the
treatment of acne?
The object of the research: Development of gel technology with thyme and propolis
extracts for the treatment of acne.
The aim of the research: To evaluate the quality indicators of a modeled gel with thyme
and propolis extracts for the treatment of acne.
Research tasks: 1. Describe the properties of acne, propolis and thyme, extraction methods,
excipients used in the production of gels, quality parameters applied to them. 2. Model the
composition of the gel with propolis and thyme plant extracts. 3. Determine the antimicrobial activity
of the prepared gels. 4. Determine the qualitative parameters and properties of the prepared gels.
Research methodology: Theoretical and subject analysis of the scientific literature was
performed, the aim was to theoretically describe the etiology, prevalence, forms of acne, as well as
the morphology of raw materials and medicinal products, extraction method, properties of gel
excipients and quality requirements of the produced gel. An experimental research method was
developed to develop a semi-solid dosage form - a gel with thyme and propolis extracts for the
treatment of acne.
Conclusions: The following substances were selected for the production of gels: active
substances - ethanolic extracts of thyme and propolis, excipients: sodium carboxymethylcellulose,
alginic acid, glycerol, purified water. An antimicrobial study was performed on Mueller Hinton agar.
All gels with ethanolic extracts of thyme and propolis had antimicrobial activity against
Staphylococcus aureus. The gel with 1% thyme extract and 1% propolis extract had the strongest
antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial activity of the freshly prepared gels was the strongest.
Studies of pH values have shown that increasing concentrations of thyme and propolis extracts
increase with increasing pH values. All gels were characterized by acidic pH values. Stability studies
of gels stored at room temperature after 1 month and after 3 months showed that all gels remained
stable: the sensory properties of the gels remained unchanged.
