Santrauka:
Description:
Relevance: Typically, athletes perform warm-up before trainings or any sport competitions, which usually involves static and dynamic streching. According to research, muscle streching shows a significant deterioration in force, strength, and high-speed required movements. Sports literature suggests that massage can be included into warm-up process. Up to now, there are controversial opinions in the research that massage before event may improve or worsen the properties of the muscles.
The aim of the study: to determine the effect of lower limb massage on the muscles physical properties of Lithuanian male indoor football players.
Tasks of the study:
1. To determine the speed of muscles after warm-up and after warm-up combined with massage.
2. To determine the explosive power of muscles after warm-up and after warm-up combined with massage.
3. To determine the nimbleness of mucles after warm-up and after warm-up combined with massage.
Methodology of the study: a 2-week study was conducted in which profesional players of Lithuanian highest indoor football league participated (N=18). During the first week, all participants within 3 different days had to perform 3 different tests after 20 minutes warm-up intervention. On the second week all participants in the same order had to perform tests after 10 minutes warm-up combined with 10 minutes lower limb massage. The speed of muscles was investigated with 30 metre sprint, the explosive power of muscles was investigated using Sargent test and the nimbleness of muscles investigated with the active straight leg raise test.
Results: the study revealed significant changes in muscle nimbleness only in the right leg (p<0,05). Meanwhile, nimbleness in the left leg, muscle speed and explosive power did not show a significant change after wamp-up comination with massage (p>0,05).
Conclusions:
1. The speed of leg muscles after warm-up combination with massage has improved more than after only warm-up intervention.
2. The explosive power of leg muscles has improved more after warm-up combination with massage than after only warm-up intervention.
3. The muscular nimbleness on the back of the femur muscles was statistically significantly improved only on the right leg after warm-up combination with massage.
