Ankstyvajame vaiko amžiuje sparčiai vystosi sensorinės sistemos: regėjimas, klausa ir koordinacija, uoslė, skonis, lytėjimas ir padėties erdvėje pojūtis. Vaikams, ypač ankstyvojo amžiaus, išreikšti save ir suprasti juos supantį pasaulį padeda meninė raiška. Ikimokykliniame ugdyme taikomi keturi meninės raiškos būdai (muzika, dailė, šokis, vaidyba), kuriuose sėkmingai gali būti lavinami ir pojūčiai. Integruojant menines veiklas tarpusavyje, sukuriamos palankiausios sąlygos visų pojūčių stimuliavimui ir raidai.
