Santrauka:
Darbo aktualumas: Helminem ir kt. (2017) teigia, jog slaugytojai – mentoriai yra tie
asmenys, kurie būdami šalia studento moko, vertina padarytą pažangą bei padeda siekti
numatytų tikslų kartu skatindami domėjimąsi profesija. Prieš dešimtmetį Lietuvoje imtasi
pirmųjų žingsnių, norint paruošti tokius kompetentingus praktikos mokytojus, tačiau profesionali
mentorystė vis dar neišplėtota, praktikoms sveikatos priežiūros įstaigose vadovauja specialaus
pasiruošimo, tinkamų profesinių įgūdžių neturintys asmenys, todėl mentorystės procesas gali,
nepatenkinti būsimųjų slaugytojų iškeltų lūkesčių profesiniam ir asmeniniam tobulėjimui,
skatinti neigiamą mokymosi patirtį (Rimkienė ir kt., 2012).
Tyrimo problema – Ar mentorystės procesas praktikų vietose atinka studentų
lūkesčius?
Tyrimo objektas – mentoriaus veikla praktiniame studentų mokyme.
Tyrimo tikslas – įvertinti mentorystės procesą slaugos studentų praktikų atlikimo
vietose.
Tyrimo uždaviniai:
1. Apibūdinti mentorystės proceso sampratą.
2. Atskleisti slaugytojo - mentoriaus veiklos svarbą praktiniame studentų mokyme.
3. Nustatyti mentorių veiklą praktikos vietose remiantis studentų nuomone.
praktikos pabaigoje, o slaugytojų apklausos duomenimis – praktikos dienos pabaigoje. Pats
Description:
Relevance of the work – Helminem et al. (2017) state that nurses-mentors are those
who being beside the student, teach value the made progress and help to achieve the intended
goals and stimulate interest in the profession. A decade ago, the first steps were taken in
Lithuania to train such competent practitioners, but professional mentoring is still
underdeveloped and practitioners in health care institutions are led by people without special
training and appropriate professional skills. For this reason mentoring process may not fulfill
expectations of future nurses for professional and personal development and then promote
negative learning experiences (Rimkienė et al., 2012).
Investigation problem – Does the mentoring process at internship places meet students'
expectations?
The object of the investigation – mentor's activity in practical student education.
The aim of the investigation – to evaluate the mentoring process at nursing student
intership places.
The Objectives
1. To describe the concept of the mentoring process.
2. To reveal the importance of nurse-mentor activities in practical student education.
3. To identify mentoring activities at internships based on student opinion.
4. To reveal mentors' views on the mentoring process and its impact on student learning.
Investigation methods: two quantitative surveys.
Investigation methodology: A quantitative survey was conducted in a virtual space for
2nd-4th year nursing students and they were requested to evaluate the mentoring process that
took place during the last practice. Nurses in Hospital X were provided with quantitative paper
questionnaires to find out how nurses value their mentoring skills, the impact of the mentoring
process and the benefits of practical training for nursing students.
Results: The study involved 75 nursing students and 50 X hospital nurses. Have been
found that mentors devote more than 3 or about 3 hours of their working day to practical student
training. Teaching is often based on the model of individual work with a nurse, where the
mentor-nurse has just one student. Both students and nurses noted that the most frequently
assessed areas of student activity during practice included medication dosing, correct
intervention techniques and ability to comply aseptic-antiseptic rules, by the way nurses outlined
ethical communication with the patient. Discussion of learning outcomes based on student
survey data revealed that it usually take place at the end of the practice. Nurses survey data
revealed that discussion about all learning process take place at the end of the practice day.
These discussion usually develops in the workplace or during individual interviews. It was found
that nurses are partially familiar with the practice documents. The most often nurses are familiar
with reference to assessment (scoring system) and the most rarely with the purpose and
objectives of the practice. Study showed that nurses value their professional knowledge and
skills better than their educational abilities.
