Description:
Topic relevance/originality. Language is the main tool in human communication. G. Čepaitienė (2007) claims that language etiquette can sometimes be described as linguistic expression of courtesy. Anyhow, it is essential to stress that ‘Lithuanian doesn‘t actually have intensive natural politeness expression. On that score it is acceptable to assume that samples of courtesy expression are insufficient in quantity for children‘. (Kamandulytė – Merfeldienė, Kavaliauskaitė, 2018). Problem. Most children are unable to socialise with peers, different age and social classes‘ individuals. The questions are: how can we (parents, educators) help the children practise in language etiquette? Is the language etiquette meaningful to present-day children? The object of the survey is self-education language etiquette possibilities for preschool children. The aim of the survey is to reveal self-education language etiquette possibilities for preschool children. Tasks: 1. Theoretically reveal self-education possibilities for preschoolers‘ language etiquette. 2. To examine parents‘ and educators‘ viewpoint into preshool kids‘ language etiquette self-education possibilities. 3. To explore children‘s language etiquette formula‘s application in various situations. 4. Regarding survey‘s empirical results to initiate and implement educational project. Methods: scientific literature analysis, questionnaire (written form), observation. Conclusions. Survey results revealed parents and educators understand that they possess impact on self-education of language etiquette. Educator‘s and parent‘s opinions don‘t come to the common agreement for children‘s abilities applying courtesy formulas. The majority of parents claim that their kids are always capable of applying courtesy words, meanwhile, than half of educators propose that kids only sometimes greet, say goodbye, thank. According to most parents and educators the crucial way of educating language etiquette is the adult‘s behaviour and verbal etiquette sample, the inducement of polite daily behaviour and conversations, discussions, stories.
