Santrauka:
Darbą sudarė dvi dalys: literatūros analizė, kurioje pristatoma pagrindinės periodonto ligos, paplitimas, etiologija, gydymas ir prevencija bei pagrindiniai periodonto ligų rizikos veiksniai. Antroje dalyje pristatoma kiekybinio tyrimo duomenų analizė, kurios tikslas buvo atskleisti Lietuvos gyventojų žinias apie periodonto ligas ir jas lemiančius veiksnius. Tyrime iš viso dalyvavo 308 Lietuvos gyventojai, pasirinkti atsitiktine tvarka. Sukurta anketinė apklausa internetu, kuri buvo pateikta internetinėje nuorodoje. Daugiau nei pusė apklaustoje dalyvavusių Lietuvos gyventojų skiria gingivitą nuo periodontito, gali atskirti šių ligų pagrindinius simptomus. Žino, kad šios ligos daugiau būdingos vyresnio amžiaus žmonėms, supranta ir žino minkštojo ir kietojo apnašo, individualios ir profesionalios burnos higienos, rūkymo, genetikos daromą įtaką šioms ligoms. Tačiau, dauguma gyventojų nežino, kad cukrinis diabetas, širdies ir kraujagyslių ligos, antsvoris, hormoniniai pokyčiai, lytis, išsilavinimas ir socialinė padėtis gali daryti įtaką periodonto ligoms.
