Santrauka:
Description:
Themed excursions play a crucial role in cognitive tourism. It allows for the participants to get acquainted with locales, objects, or cultures. This is underpinned by Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) who says that culture is one of the “motors” of growth in tourism, so preserving cultural heritage and developing sustainable tourism is part of the same “equation” (UNWTO, 2018). The aim of the final work was to evaluate supply of thematic excursions in the context of cognitive tourism in Kaunas city and district municipalities. The following working methods were used in the work: analysis of literature and information sources, questionnaire survey, interview and SWOT analysis. Structure: theoretical, analytical, project parts. The theoretical part presents the definitions of cognitive and cultural tourism, discusses the concepts of excursions, thematic excursions, excursionist, tourists and tourist guide definition. It also describes the definitions of supply and demand. After the first part of the work it was found out what is cognitive tourism, excursion, thematic excursion, excursionist, tourist and tourist guide. The second (analytical part) part provides an analysis of the situation of thematic excursions in Kaunas city and district municipalities, the results of qualitative and quantitative research and their analysis, and also SWOT analysis. The offer of thematic excursion of Kaunas city and district municipalities reaches 115 thematic excursions. In the final part of the final work there are suggestions how to encourage supply of thematic excursions in the context of cognitive tourism and ways to increase their demand. Ways to stimulate demand: to provide more diverse excursions, create a smart app, customization of sharing material. Increase supply ways: keep track of the latest trends, take advantage of untapped opportunities. Results: The work revealed that for many people cultural and cognitive tourism is synonymous. According to the qualitative research results, it can be stated that the offer of thematic excursions could be more diverse. Systematized answers of respondents of quantified research (which were 165) can make the following assumptions: Guides are the most important part of the excursion; Free tours would encourage to visit thematic excursions; There is a lack of thematic excursions in Kaunas district.
