Santrauka:
Description:
Relevance of the research. The problem that is being researched in this Bachelor's thesis
has a great relevance to children in today's preschool education institutions. Today's biggest
challenge that pedagogues have to face is preschoolers who have trouble concentrating on certain
attention demanding activities at the same time distracting each other. That is why developing their
attention span is so important while preparing kindergarteners for school.
Research question. How to effectively develop the attention span of preschool-aged
children in educational institutions?
Object of research: The development of the attention span of preschool-aged children.
The aim: To gain understanding and reveal the peculiarities of developing the attention
span of preschool-aged children in educational institutions
Objectives:
1. To find theoretical ground for the existing assumptions about the development of the
attention span of preschool-age children in educational institutions
2. To find out what approach do pedagogues take when it comes to developing of the
attention span of preschool-age children in educational institutions.
3. To plan and implement the educational project "I want to pay attention"
Research methods:
1. A scientific literature review and analysis
2. Empirical research (interview)
Conclusions:
1. According to various authors, the reasons for the lack of attention could be of biological
or sociocultural origins and depend a lot on the character of the child itself, his or hers eating habits,
or the ability of the involved pedagogue to motivate the child and keep him or her focused on the
tasks given. The scientists who had done research on development of the attention span of
kindergarteners, had come to a conclusion that developing the attention span of these children is
essential, otherwise they might have problems concentrating while also disturbing other children
around them.
2. The interviewed pedagogues from preschool educational institutions are in agreement
that it's very difficult for preschoolers to pay attention nowadays and finding ways to help them
extend their attention span is very important while preparing children for school. They also name a

few reasons that according to their own experience make impact on children's lack of attention -
genetics, improper routines, lack of suitable upbringing, the extensive use of technology and
devices. According to the interviewed pedagogues, a better attention span will help children
overcome obstacles at school and achieve better results. These pedagogues use all kinds of methods
to help children develop their attention span - didactic, logical or board games, sound and breathing
exercises, mathematical puzzles, which greatly improve children's abilities to focus, while also
taking each child's unique personality into account.
