Darbo metu išsiaiškinta cukrinio diabeto ligos paplitimas, sudėtingumas, išanalizuota mokslinė – medicininė literatūra apie CD eigą, komplikacijas. Išanalizuota pėdos anatomija, biomechanika. Išsiaiškinta diabetinės pėdos epidemiologija, etiopatogenezė ir priežąstys, sukeliančios diabetinės pėdos sindromą. Nustatyta pėdos priežiūros specialisto paslaugų poreikis.

Laura Bušinskienė (cosmetology study program) completed the final professional bachelor's thesis on the
topic „An opinion of the patients with diabetes mellitus about the peculiarities of foot care and the need
for specialist services“. Supervisor Žaneta Mickienė, Head of Cosmetology Department of Medicine faculty
of Kaunas College.
The aim of the final thesis. To reveal an opinion of the patients with diabetes about the
peculiarities of foot care and the need for specialist services. Tasks – 1. Overview of the prevalence of
diabetes mellitus, its etiopathogenesis, classification and complications. 2. Describe the pathogenesis,
complications and care of diabetic foot syndrome. 3. To find out an opinion of the patients with diabetes
about the peculiarities of foot care and the need for specialist services. Methods – to conduct a survey on
the patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), at the moment of research, in Department of Endocrinology of
Endocrinological Clinic of LSMU (Lithuanian University of Health Sciences). To participate directly in joint
visits with attending doctors, assessing the symptoms of diabetic foot, the need for cosmetologists - foot
care professionals and their ability to maintain diabetic foot.
The main results - the study has shown that diabetes mellitus (DM) is very prevalent and continuing to
spread a serious chronic disease that is more common in obese, older people. One of the most
complicated complications of diabetes mellitus (DM) is the development of a diabetic foot. Inadequate
foot care develops severe diabetic foot ulcers that heals with difficulty. When ulcers are infected, strikes
the most difficult and disability causing complication – foot amputation. In the case of a diabetic person
visiting a cosmetologist, carefully performed procedures, explanatory - educational work is necessary.
Urgent and timely referral for medical advice is necessary when leg feet injuries are observed.
