Literatūroje aprašoma pneumonijos sampratą ir slaugytojo veikla užtikrinant, pneumonijos prevenciją intensyvios terapijos ir reanimacijos skyriuose. Tyrimo metu vertinama slaugytojo veikla, užtikrinant pneumonijos prevenciją, intensyvios terapijos ir reanimacijos skyriuose. Atskleidžiama, kokias profilaktines priemones, padedančias išvengti pneumonijos, taiko slaugytojos profesinėje veikloje. Palyginama stebėtą slaugytojo veikla su moksline literatūra.

Purpose of the study: to evaluate the activity of a nurse,ensure prevention of pneumonia in the intensive care and resuscitation units.
Task:
1. To reveal the risk factors for pneumonia development in the intensive care unit and resuscitation unit.
2. To describe the ways of preventing pneumonia in intensive care and resuscitation units.
3. To determine the activity of a nurse,to ensure the prevention for pneumonia in the intensive unit care and resuscitation units.
Research problem: Is the activity of nurses working in intensive care and resuscitation units sufficient to prevent pneumonia in patients?
Research object: nursing activities to prevent pneumonia in the intensive care and resuscitation units.
Research methods:
1. Analysis of scientific literature.
2. Quantitative research (anonymous questionnaire survey).
3. Qualitative research (observation).
People involved in the study: nurses activity in intensive care and resuscitation units.
Research result and conclusions: Especially the high risk of pneumonia have patients lying in resuscitation and intensive care units (ICU), for immunosuppressive conditions, major care of procedures and invasive measure, may cause secondary infections. Also a long time hospitalization,common usage of equipment, invasive accessories, patients treated with tracheostomy,incubation of trachea, with gastrostomy tube. Based on Lithuanian's medical norm MN 28:2011, a general practitioner,according to professional competences, should know the common and complimentary measures to prevent pneumonia. Most nurses care for four patients. It is not possible to do some work properly as needed: hand hygiene, while the tracheostomy tube is sucking out the phlegm, the suction machine pressure has not been checked. Part of the respondents do not use in their practice chlorhexidine to disinfect the mouth of the patient, to breathe properly, did not use disposable hygienic means, according to the requirements, tracheostomy tube must be suctioned every 8-12 hours. The vast majority of nurses devote great attention of thoroughly hygienic hands, safety measures: to suction secretion from the tracheostomy tube, for effective medical hygiene, to avoid stomach stretching due to aspiration, beds for lifting the patient at an angle 30-40 degrees, to disinfect the patients mouth, which is performed 2 to 3 times a day, mouth and lips moisturizing
