The relevance of research. According to Lithuanian Health Statistics, the number of children aged 0-17 years old with bronchial asthma increased to 43,2 100 thousand people in 2017. This suggests that cases of illness are increasing every year in our country. It is important to understand the disease, its complications, the treatment and the factors causing the exacerbation of the disease that is increasing the number of patients. Bronchial asthma is a chronic disease that not only the patient himself should be involved in the treatment but the role of relatives is also important. Informing parents about the course of the disease, possible complications and preventive measures, disease control and life changes is a very important step in treating the disease. Parents become important participants in their children's recovery team. Today nurse as a healthcare professional is an inseparable link between the patient and his relatives by informing and teaching them about the disease.
Aim of the research : To identify the need for information and training for parents of patients with bronchial asthma and the role of nurses in the health education process.
Research tasks: 1. Theoretically explain the peculiarities of bronchial asthma in children age and nurse training in the nursing process. 2. To estimate parents knowledge about the disease control received from nurses in general practice. 3. Reveal parents attitude towards nurses which grants knowledge and training in controlling bronchial asthma in nursing sick children. Empirical research methodology. During the study was analysed review of scientific literature, accomplished quantitative research, anonymous survey and received data analysis. In 2018 November - December the research was performed. The survey has consisted of 25 closed type questions. The study was performed in X hospital in X department and involved parents of 40 kids with bronchial asthma. Research results. Research has revealed that a lot of parents still lack knowledge about the disease and factors that provoke asthma. It was determined that parents often turn to nurses in general practices but do not always receive the needed information about the specific matter. It was found out that most of the information the parents receive is from the family doctor. Also, many respondents would like more information from the nurses than before and that the most useful teaching method for parents would be individual.Outcome. Bronchial asthma is still relevant to children's age and in order to maintain control of the disease, it is useful for parents to gain knowledge about the disease and complications
