Darbe išskirtos ikimokyklinio amžiaus vaikų patiriamų baimių ir nerimo priežastys bei jų sukeliamos problemos ir nurodyti įveikimo būdai. Aprašomi slaugytojų ir tėvų veiksmai, padedantys mažinti ikimokyklinukų patiriamas baimes ir nerimą. Tyrimo metu nustatomi ir vertinami vaikų skyriuose dirbančių slaugytojų veiksmai siekiant sumažinti vaikų jaučiamas neigiamas emocijas. Slaugytojų požiūriu, atskleidžiamas tėvų įsitraukimas į ikimokyklinukų nerimo ir baimės mažinimą gydymo įstaigoje.

Relevance of the work. The work reveals the attitude of nurses to the involvement of nurses and parents in reducing the fear and anxiety of preschool age children in a Medical Institution. Nowadays, this topic is particularly relevant, whereas research has shown that 70% preschool age children feel fear and anxiety before taking medical procedures, encounter with psychological experiences when they enter a Medical Institution. (Rokach, 2016; Kalibaitienė, 2015). Without giving enough time, attention and willingness to overcome these problems for preschool age childrens, they may experience anxiety disorders, psychosomatic illnesses, difficulties in communicating with each others, or even depression. (Konkabayeva et al. 2016; Morgan et al., 2016) At the Medical Institution the closest to preschool child are parents and medical staff, which must also devote efforts and working time to overcoming the fear and anxiety.
The aim of work. Reveal the involvement of nurses and parents in helping to reduce the anxiety and fear of preschool children in a Medical Facility.
Work tasks:
1. Theoretically explain the fears and anxiety of preschool age children, the problems they cause and the sources of their occurrence.
2. Describe the importance of nurses and parents reduction in the fear and anxiety of preschool age children.
3. Identify the actions of nurses and parents to reduce the anxiety and fear of preschool age children in a Medical Institution.
Methodology of investigation. Literature analysis is performed. A written survey of nurses was selected for the quantitative study. The questionnaire consisted of 15 closed and 2 open questions. The survey was carried out in the children's departments of X and Y Kaunas City Medical Institutions, 62 questionnaires were received. Data from respondents were mathematically systematized (%) using Microsoft Excel 2013, analyzed using charts, tables, and describing received information.
Results and conclusions of the study. The results of the study showed that by reducing child's fear and anxiety, nurses always communicate in a language that the child understands, choose a clear, calm voice tone, sing children's songs, play with the child, introduce the medical instruments which use in the procedure, wear colorful medical clothes .When performed medical procedures for a child, nurses allow parents to take part together. According to the study, from the point of view of the nurses, most parents, by reducing their child's fears, are next to their child, also they calm them (hug, hold hands, speak soft words), show cartoons, play games and parents try to negotiate with the child (using promises), manage own emotions.
