Tyrimo metu nustatytas slaugytojų profesinio tobulėjimo poreikis, motyvuojantys faktoriai bei pageidaujami kvalifikacijos kėlimo renginių būdai ir kliūis trukdančios to siekti. Pagal gautas rezultatus bei suformuluotas išvadas pateikiamos rekomendacijos, padedančios didinti slaugytojų profesinio tobulėjimo poreikį.

The topicality of the thesis. Nowadays, with the latest technology, they are not advancing medical professionals. Medical institutions are expanding with modern, new equipment, changing techniques for performing procedures, and nursing professionals need to learn more, develop existing skills and new skills, and learn how to apply them in practice. In order to keep up with the world and maintain a high level of health care in our country, nurses responsible for general care must constantly improve their professional competence.
The aim of the work. To find out the demands of general practice nurses‘ competence improvement
The tasks:
• describe general practice nurses development concept and it’s meaning .
• find out the need of general practice nurses’ development by social and demographic aspects.
• find out difficulties in improving the level of general practice nurses
• evaluate the demand of general practice nurses’ development.
Research object . Demand of general practice nurses’ improvement of competence.
The methodology of empirical research. The following research methods were used to achieve the goals and tasks of the final bachelor thesis: theoretical - scientific and subject literature sources analysis, empirical - quantitative research, questionnaire and written questionnaire survey. The questionnaire is designed to identify and assess respondents' attitudes of the necessity for professional development of nurses responsible for general care. Statistical analysis of quantitative data was performed with SPSS 24.0 and Microsoft Excel 2016 programs. Written surveys of nurses responsible for general care were conducted in hospital X, in its departments and units in 2018 December. A total of 150 questionnaires were distributed, 130 questionnaires returned, 124 of which were duly completed and suitable for investigation. The questionnaire consisted of 21 questions, of which 2 were open-ended.
Results of the thesis. 124 respondents participated in the survey. It was found that more than a third of them feel the need to raise their professional qualification (88.7 pct.). The time it takes to raise it significantly depends on the need to upgrade your qualification. There was more than half of nurses in general practice are interested in upgrading their personal initiative, while a quarter is driven by employers. The success of the qualification improvement may depend on its form, the most popular

ones being lectures, seminars or conferences, of longer duration. Also, most respondents are interested in qualification events, the topics of which are related to the specifics of work (77.7 pct.).
Conclusions of the thesis. Professional qualifications are an integral part of the work of a general practitioner, as the skills and knowledge available are aging and need to be constantly updated. General Practitioners, every 5 years, have to renew their license and professional development for at least 40 hours a year. The results of the study showed that more than a third of respondents feel the need for professional development, and most of them are motivated by higher pay.
