Šiame darbe aprašoma socialinio darbuotojo veikla vaikų globos namuose. Struktūruoto interviu būdu apklausti penkių vaikų globos institucijų socialiniai darbuotojai. Socialinio darbuotojo pagalbos globos institucijoje, analizė parodė, kad vaikas yra iš anksto supažindinamas su įstaiga, joje teikiamomis paslaugomis, gyvenimo sąlygomis, taisyklėmis; sudaromas ir reguliariai peržiūrimas individualios socialinės globos planas; vaikui stengiamasi sukurti jo poreikius atitinkančią sveiką, saugią ir teigiamą emocinę aplinką, pagrįstą abipusiu vaiko ir personalo pasitikėjimu, pagarba; globotinį stengiamasi apsaugoti nuo smurto, prievartos, įžeidinėjimų, tačiau vaikams tenka patirti psichologinį smurtą iš bendraamžių ar vyresnių vaikų; vaikui sukuriama palanki ugdymosi aplinka ir padedama įgyti socialinių ir savarankiško gyvenimo įgūdžių.

Work topicality. This report describes social worker’s contribution towards children living in foster home. Structured interviews are set to survey five social care workers at foster home. Analysis have shown that all children are introduced to the foter home, provided services, living conditions and rules beforehand; individual social care plans are set and reviewed regularly; safe and positive environments are generated which require to meet the child’s needs and abilities based on both children and staff trust as well as respect; foster care institution seek to protect all their children from violence, abuse and insults, unfortunately some still suffer mental abuse from children their own age or those that are older; educated environments are established to help children gain and develop social and independent skills.
Work objectives – to identify social worker’s work principals towards children living at foster home.
Topic choice. Subject choice was driven by the need to investigate social worker’s assistance principles at foster home.
Work issues. Insufficient attention paid to the problems faced by children living at the childcare Institutions. This issue has risen when it was understood that social care wokrers weren’t providing enough assistance to children at foster home. Many social care workers do not understand the importance of providing children correct assistance. It is highly important that there are enough specialist working at foster homes.
Work methods. Scientific literature and legislative analysis method. Descriptive - analytical method and literary analysis was also used in this paper. Qualitative research was selected to carry out the Empirical surveys. Social workers were interviewed during the research.
Conclusions. The first part of this work analyses social work theoretical aspects, an overview of the concept of a social worker and its legal regulations. The second part examines social worker’s role in providing assistance at foster home. The third part analyses social worker’s support options addressing foster home social issues which were conducted by qualitative research (interviews) at foster home.
