Darbe atlikta mokslinės ir profesinės literatūros analizė apie standartinius akrilinius „Twin-Block“ funkcinius aparatus bei nematomus iš termoplastinių kapų ir akrilinių blokų pagamintus modifikuotus „Twin-Block“ funkcinius aparatus. Išanalizuoti privalumai ir trūkumai, jų savybės ir panaudojimas ortodontijoje. Svarbu parinkti atitinkamą aparato konstrukciją, kad netaisyklingas sąkandis atsistatytų į reikiamą okliuziją greitai ir patikimai. Tiek akrilinis, tiek termoplastinis su arkilo blokais yra tinkami gydyti Angle II klase. Gydymo trukmė trunka iki vienerių metų, priklausomai nuo situacijos.
Darbe taip pat pagaminti standartinis akrilinis „Twin Block“ ir termoplastinis su akriliniais blokais aparatai, apžvelgti jų privalumai ir trūkumai bei palygintos jų gamybos technologijos.

Gabrielius Jovaras (Dental Technology Studies Programme) has prepared the Thesis „ Irregular bite correction, using different functional „Twin-Block“appliance system“. Academic Supervisor: Linas Šalčius, Kaunas College, Faculty of Medicine, Oral Health Department. Kaunas, 2018 – 47 pages The Thesis consists of an introduction, two parts (theoretical and practical), conclusions and a list of references. Aim: to reveal advantages and disadvantages of two functional orthodontic „Twin-Block“ appliance, correcting irregular bite. The analysis of academic and professional literature, related to standard acrylic functional orthodontic „Twin-Block“ appliance and invisible modified functional orthodontic „Twin-Block“ appliance of thermoplastic individual forms with acrylic blocks; analyses their advantages and disadvantages, properties and application in orthodontology. It is important to choose an appropriate construction of an appliance in order an irregular bite could be restored to necessary occlusion rapidly and reliably. Both, standard acrylic and modified appliance of thermoplastic individual forms with acrylic blocks are suitable to treat Angle II class. Treatment course is up to one year, depends on situation. The Thesis presents two made appliance: standard acrylic functional orthodontic „Twin-Block“ appliance and invisible modified functional orthodontic „Twin-Block“ apparatus of thermoplastic individual forms with acrylic block; overview their advantages and disadvantages and compares their manufacture technologies. The result of application is the same for the both appliance. A standard acrylic features retention and stability due to its hooks, and could be repaired in case of damage. The invisible modified appliance features aesthetics (thermoplastic individual forms with acrylic blocks are transparent), but in case of damage it could not be repaired, so it is necessary to manufacture a new one. Both functional appliance have their advantages and disadvantages. Aesthetics, quality and oral comfort of the functional appliance are linked with professional abilities of the orthodontist and Dental technician. So, choice of „Twin-Block“ appliance depends on the patient and orthodontist offer.
