dc.description	Study title. The psychosocial factors of the working environment of the laboratory's technologists and their interfaces with health in Kaunas city X health care institutions. Study relevance. Psychosocial risk is one of the main threats to the health, safety and working ability of workers. The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (2015) states that: "Approximately half of the staff believe that stress in their workplace is usual. It is the second most commonly referred the work-related health problem in Europe. The working environment of the laboratory staff and their health effects in Lithuania and abroad are not often and widely investigated. Aim of the study. To reveal the psychosocial factors of the working environment of the laboratory's technologists and their interfaces with health in Kaunas city X health care institutions. Methods of the study. A structured quantitative study has been carried out by using anonymous questionnaire survey. The anonymous questionnaire survey of the laboratory's technologists in Kaunas city X health care institutions was conducted on April  May, 2018. Results. A survey of laboratory technologists of Kaunas city health care institutions has revealed that most (71.0%) technologists sometimes have to deal with harmful chemical materials, and more than half (62.9%) sometimes have to perform infected blood tests or collect infected blood. Most (83.9%) technologists work with high work demands and their work load is high (66.1%). The majority (96.8%) of technologists are not satisfied with the salary. The majority of technologists experiences high levels of work responsibilities (93.5 percent), half of employees experiences gossip (51.6 percent) and emotional tension (56.5 percent). Most (75.8 per cent) consider their work as monotonous, and less than half (41.9 per cent) of technologists can not independently accept work-related decisions. Laboratory technologists often experience fatigue (83.9%), tension (79%), stress (77.4%), irritability and nervousness (75.8%), and physical exhaustion (71.0%). The bad health of laboratory technologists is associated with high workloads, high labor standards, low salary, high levels of work responsibilities, monotonous work and gossip. Conclusions. The main psychosocial factors of the working environment of the laboratory's technologists in Kaunas city X health care institutions are the work with infected blood and harmful chemical materials, high labor standards and high work load, low salary, high levels of work responsibility, monotonous work and gossip. Psychosocial factors are associated with stress, fatigue, physical and emotional exhaustion, headaches, irritability, nervousness, sadness, tension, anxiety and bad sleep that are experienced by laboratory technologists.	en
