dc.description Brigita Draudvilaitė. Bachelor's thesis "Life quality assessment of people with type I diabetes ". Supervisor of bachelor thesis lec. Daiva Baltaduonienė; Kaunas College; Faculty of Medicine, 2018 – 34 p. Relevance of the research: Since 1980 the global prevalence of diabetes (standardized by age) has almost doubled, rising from 4.7% to 8.5% of people (World Health Organization, 2017). The average incidence of type I diabetes mellitus was found in Lithuania, which increases by an average of 3.32%. per year (G. Mockevičienė, 2010). With the increasing incidence of type I diabetes, it is particularly important to study how this chronic disease affects the quality of life. Objectives of study: 1) To analyze the importance of productive and leisure activities for the quality of life of people with type I diabetes. 2) Find out the impact diabetes has on patients relationships with relatives and friends. 3) To evaluate how people with type I diabetes would evaluate the quality of life and living conditions if they would not have the diabetes. 4) To analyze the attitude to their physical health and appearance, of people with type I diabetes, if they would not have diabetes. Methods and participants of the study: Members of the diabetes club "INSULA" and individuals suffering from type I diabetes. Research tool - ADDQOL (Audit of Diabetes-Dependent Quality of Life) questionnaire. The study involved 40 subjects with type I diabetes. Results: The leisure and work activities were considered by the majority of respondents as important, only a small part (10 percent) responded that they did not care about these activities. The vast majority (65 percent) of the respondents said that type I diabetes does not affect their relationship with relatives. However, 3percent responded that type I diabetes has slightly more than a minimal impact on this area of life. In assessing the overall quality of life, respondents felt that their quality of life would be slightly better if they did not get type I diabetes. When analyzing the effect of diabetes on the conditions of the sick people, it turned out that the disease does not have much influence on this area of life. 8percent of the respondents said that type I diabetes has the maximum negative impact on their physical health. The results of the study revealed that Type I diabetes has a maximum negative effect of 5percent. the physical appearance of the respondents. Conclusions: 1) Both areas: productive and leisure activities are equally important to respondents. 2) According to respondents, type I diabetes does not affect their relationship with relatives and friends. 3) Type I diabetes affects the physical health and appearance of the respondents. In their opinion, if they would not have diabetes, they would feel and look better. 4) The majority of respondents say that if they would not have type I diabetes, their quality of life would be much better. en
