dc.description	Relevance of the topic: according to the latest data from the International Diabetes Federation, 463 million people had diabetes in 2019 and the numbers are expected to only increase over time. The chronic form of diabetes can have consequences for the patient’s health- kidney, vascular and eye diseases (IDF Diabetes Atlas 9th edition. 2019). More than 1 million children and people under the age of 20 have type 1 diabetes. Although periodontal disease is not the main complication of diabetes we can observe periodontal changes for people who have the disease (Novotna ir kt., 2015). The main problem of the thesis: what is the attitude of diabetic patients towards oral hygiene control? The object of the thesis: patients with diabetes views on dental hygiene control. The purpose of the thesis: to reveal the attitude of patients with diabetes towards oral hygiene control. Objectives: to theoretically substantiate the etiology of diabetes symptoms progression and changes in the oral cavity caused by the disease; distinguish individual oral care of patients with diabetes; to determine the attitude of patients with diabetes towards the control of oral hygiene depending on the type of diabetes. Methods and target audience: in order to reveal the attitude of patients with diabetes towards oral hygiene control a literature analysis was performed and a quantitative study was used to reveal the empirical task. Results and conclusions of empirical research: depending on the type of diabetes the attitude towards oral hygiene control was more positive with respondents who have type 1 diabetes than with the respondents who have type 2 diabetes. Study participants with type 1 diabetes were more likely to visit dental hygienist had wider range of individual oral hygiene measures and used more preventive measures when compared to respondents with type 2 diabetes	en_US
dc.description.abstract	Temos aktualumas: remiantis naujausiais tarptautinės diabeto federacijos duomenimis, cukriniu diabetu 2019 metais sirgo 463 milijonai žmonių, manoma, kad skaičiai bėgant laikui tik didės. Lėtinė šios ligos forma gali turėti tolimesnių padarinių sergančiojo sveikatai – inkstų, kraujagyslių, akių ligos. Daugiau nei 1 milijonas vaikų ir jaunuolių, jaunesnių nei 20 metų, turi pirmo tipo diabetą (IDF Diabetes Atlas 9th edition, 2019). Nors periodonto ligos nėra pagrindinė CD komplikacija, tačiau jau jauname amžiuje sergant CD galime stebėti periodonto pakitimus (Novotna ir kt., 2015). Tyrimo problema: koks yra cukriniu diabetu sergančių pacientų požiūris į burnos higienos kontrolę? Tyrimo objektas: pacientų, sergančių cukriniu diabetu, požiūris į burnos higienos kontrolę. Tyrimo tikslas: atskleisti pacientų, sergančių cukriniu diabetu, požiūrį į burnos higienos kontrolę. Tyrimo uždaviniai: 1. teoriškai pagrįsti CD etiologiją, simptomus, ligos eigą, progresavimą ir ligos sukeliamus pokyčius burnos ertmėje; 2. išskirti individualios burnos priežiūros priemones pacientams sergantiems CD; 3. nustatyti CD sergančių pacientų požiūrį į burnos higienos kontrolę, priklausomai nuo ligos tipo. Tyrimo metodika ir tiriamieji: norint atskleisti CD sergančių žmonių požiūrį į burnos higienos kontrolę, buvo atlikta literatūros analizė, empiriniam uždaviniui atskleisti naudotas kiekybinis tyrimas Empirinio tyrimo rezultatai ir išvados: atsižvelgiant į CD tipą, požiūris į burnos higienos kontrolę 1 tipo CD sergančių respondentų buvo labiau teigiamas, nei 2 tipo CD sergančių respondentų. 1 tipo CD sergantys tyrimo dalyviai dažniau lankėsi pas burnos higienistą, turėjo platesnį individualios burnos higienos priemonių spektrą, bei naudojo daugiau profilaktinių priemonių, priešingai nei 2 tipo CD sergantys respondentai	en_US
