dc.description Relevance of the theme: radiological studies: x–ray, computer tomography, magnetic resonance tomography are the main, and so far irreplaceable methods of diagnostic examination. Almost everyone who visits any kind of medical institution, has to face these kind of examinations. Especially for elder people these kind of visits become almost inevitable. A person’s body changes within age and with it certain changes come along. These kind of changes may require different communication skills from the medical staff when instructing elder patients before their radiological examination. (V. A. Grossman, 2014) Demographic aging is acknowledgeable when rating the demographic aging factor. Lithuanian statistic department’s, from 2013 until 2017, demographic aging factor has increased from 124 to 130. The observation of demographic aging is relevant in a radiologic technologist’s work. It is important to find out if it takes longer time to instruct elder people before their radiological examination in order to achieve the best performance of the examination. Research aim – to establish the peculiarities of instruction to elder people before a radiological examination. Research objectives: 1. The analysis of scientific and professional literature about deontology principles and radiological examinations usually performed on elder patients. 2. To reveal the communication of a radiologic technologist with different age patients. 3. To evaluate the patient’s opinion about instructions given before the radiological examination. Research methods: The information was collected in October 2017 – February 2018 in X hospitals’ radiology departments. 150 respondents were questioned (55 respondents – radiology technologists, 95 respondents – patients). 110 completed questionnaires were collected for the analysis. The research results were processed with the program Microsoft Excel 2010. Research results: After completing the analysis of the questionnaires, it was clear that the bigger part of patients were satisfied with the work of the radiology technologist. The instructions given by the radiology technologist were understandable. The group of elder patients split from other groups, because of their lower rating of the radiology technologist’s behavior. This means that it is necessary to dedicate more time and attention to elder patients when giving information. After performing the analysis of radiology technologist’s answers, there were established the following factors that interfere with making the radiology examinations properly. Children’s agility, younger and middle–aged patient’s character properties are the main disturbance when performing a radiological examination. While on elder people the main disturbances come from their hearing, sight, memory disorders and slowness. Conclusions: 1. To examine injury consequences, bone and neurodegenerative changes, amniotic fluid and heart disease, x–ray, computer tomography and magnetic resonance are performed. By following the principle of deontology, the medical worker must respect the patient and his dignity, opinion and keep confidential any kind of information related to the patient. 2. The opinion of radiology technologist’s is that the longest examinations last with children, and the hardest to communicate is with elder people. 3. In patient’s opinion the instructions given by radiology technologist are understandable to everyone except to elder patients. en
