dc.description Research relevance. Nowadays an early and correct disease diagnostic and treatment method is unimaginable without the help of radiological examinations. An effective treatment and in time provided help is the main factor assuring the recovery of a patient (Buteikytė, 2017). According to E. Mattila (2014), patients can suffer pain and discomfort in many medical procedures that may be the cause of patient’s developed phobias. Research aim. To compare the examined patients’ fears of radiological examination. Research problem: What are the fears of the examined patients during different radiological examinations? Research object: The fears of examined patients. Research objectives: To analyze the scientific and specialty literature about radiological examinations and patients’ fears during radiological examinations. To find out patients’ fears before and after radiological examinations. To divide patients’ fears during different radiological examinations. Research methods: Quantitative research method in which an anonymous questionnaire was given to the examined patients. By using the questionnaire method 130 patients were questioned. 100 questionnaires were analyzed 100,0 % (N=100). By using the targeting selective method, two groups of examined patients were made: 50 patients which were examined by computer and magnetic resonance and other 50 which had tuberculosis and had other x–ray examinations. Research results: After carrying out the analysis of the patients questionnaires the causes of the fears developed before and after examinations were established. Respondents stated that they fear the most when they lack information about the examinations. Also, they fear these examinations, because of other patients’ bad opinion about them. As a consequence it is possible to state that patients need to be given more information before and after the examination. Also the research results revealed what kind of fears are the most common during different radiological examinations. The results of the questionnaires revealed that the biggest fears are: fear of small places, fear of pain and fear of radiation. Conclusions: 1. Based on the opinion of different authors about radiological examinations and fears overtaken during them, it is possible to notice that in radiological examination patients suffering from different kind of phobias, that may cause irreversible health disorders, are detected. Medical staff working with patients during radiological examinations must treat every patient responsibly and take care of each one of them individually. 2. Before the examination patients often feel anxiety caused by the lack of knowledge about the radiological examinations and the bad opinion that comes from other patients. After the radiological examinations, patients often feel calmed, except from patients suffering from phobias, which often need the help of tranquilizers and the support of their relatives. 3. The most common fears during magnetic resonance are claustrophobia, fear of pain, and the duration of the examination. The most common fear during computer tomography is fear of radiation, and the most common fear of other x–ray examinations is pain. The patients also are afraid of the staff unfriendliness. en
