dc.description	The aim of this research was to reveal the approach of Lithuanian and Spanish oral hygienists in relation to the interdental hygiene. The research question was posed to identify the Lithuanian and Spanish oral hygienists’ approach towards the interdental hygiene. The research object was the approach of Lithuanian and Spanish oral hygienists in respect of the interdental hygiene. The research objectives were: 1. To describe the anatomy and pathology of the oral cavity; 2. Based on the literature review to describe the characteristics of the interdental hygiene; 3. To identify the approach of Lithuanian oral hygienists regarding the interdental hygiene; 4. To identify the approach of Spanish oral hygienists regarding the interdental hygiene. In order to identify the approach of Lithuanian and Spanish oral hygienists in relation to the interdental hygiene scientific literature review was completed. Subsequently quantitative research of collected data has been carried out. To carry out this study the research data was collected by the method of an online survey. The research was carried out from 10th of April, 2020 to 13th of May, 2020. Out of 227 respondents who took part in the study, 110 (48,5%) were Spanish oral hygienists and the remaining 117 (51,5%) were the Lithuanian oral hygienists. The questionnaire used to gather data for this research contained 20 questions. The data was statistically analysed using MS Excel 2016 program. The MS Excel 2016 program was also used to produce the charts and diagrams. Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that, in the opinion of both Lithuanian and Spanish oral hygienists, the interdental hygiene is a particularly important part of the oral health. According to oral hygienists, many oral tissue diseases begin when the dental plaque is not removed efficiently from the interdental spaces. The study established, that it was impossible to sufficiently clean the oral cavity using the toothbrush and toothpaste alone. Lithuanian oral hygienists identified that their preferred interdental cleaning aid were the interdental brushes and the Spanish oral hygienists selected the dental floss. According to the oral hygiene experts, different interdental cleaning aids should be used for different dental groups and dental restorations. Most respondents believed that the interdental cleaning aids may cause damage if used incorrectly, however, the correct use of these aids provided more benefits than harm. It was also observed that the approach and attitude of oral hygienists’ towards the oral care products affected their patients’ choices. dc.description.abstract	Tyrimo tikslas — atskleisti Lietuvos ir Ispanijos burnos higienistų požiūrį į tarpdančių higieną. Tyrimo problema: koks Lietuvos ir Ispanijos burnos higienistų požiūris į tarpdančių higieną? Objektas — Lietuvos ir Ispanijos burnos higienistų požiūris į tarpdančių higieną. Tyrimo uždaviniai: 1. Aprašyti burnos ertmės anatomiją ir patologiją; 2. Teoriškai atskleisti tarpdančių higienos ypatumus; 3. Nustatyti Lietuvos burnos higienistų požiūrį į tarpdančių higieną; 4. Nustatyti Ispanijos burnos higienistų požiūrį į tarpdančių higieną. Siekiant atskleisti Lietuvos ir Ispanijos burnos higienistų požiūrį į tarpdančių higieną buvo atlikta mokslinės literatūros analizė ir kiekybinis tyrimas. Tyrimui atlikti buvo pasirinktas duomenų rinkimo metodas apklausa internetu. Tyrimas vyko nuo 2020 metų balandžio 10 dienos iki 2020 metų gegužės 13 dienos. Apklausoje dalyvavo 227 respondentai, iš jų 110 (48,5%) buvo Ispanijos higienistai ir 117 (51,5%) Lietuvos higienistai. Tyrimo instrumentą, klausimyną, sudarė 20 klausimų. Statistinė duomenų analizė ir grafikai buvo atliekami naudojant MS Excel 2016 programa. Remiantis atlikto tyrimo duomenimis galima daryti išvadą, kad Lietuvos ir Ispanijos burnos higienistų nuomone, tarpdančių higiena yra ypač svarbi burnos sveikatos dalis. Burnos higienistų teigimu, daugelis burnos audinių ligų prasideda nepašalinus apnašo nuo tarpdančių paviršiaus. Buvo išsiaiškinta, kad kokybiškai išsivalyti burnos ertmę naudojant tik dantų šepetėlį ir pastą yra neįmanoma. Geriausia tarpdančių valymo priemonę Lietuvos burnos higienistai renka tarpdančių šepetėlius, o Ispanijos higienistai — tarpdančių siūlą. Skirtingoms dantų grupėms, skirtingoms dantų restauracijoms, specialistų nuomone, tarpdančių valymo priemonės turėtų būti naudojamos skirtingos. Dauguma respondentų mano, kad tarpdančių valymo priemonės gali būti pavojingos naudoti, tačiau teisingai naudojant jos teikia daugiau naudos nei žalos. Pastebėta, kad burnos higienistų požiūris į burnos priežiūros priemones turi įtakos ir pacientų naudojamiems produktams.
