dc.description	The porpose of the paper: to determine the performance of the mental health nurses in the care of patients with schizophrenia. The object of the paper: mental health nurses activity. The structure of the paper: the paper consists of introduction, analysis of literature and research results, conclusion and recommendations. The results of the paper: the results show that most nurses evaluate the patient's mental performance attributes and only one nurse does not. The research also found that the five most commonly viewed mental attributes are communication, perception, behavior, appearance, and mood. Looking at nursing issues, most nurses see problems with communication, eating, personal hygiene, aggression, willpower and suicide risk when treating schizophrenic patients, and only two interviewees do not observe eating problems. It has been observed that as many as half of the respondents in eating problems do not distinguish between inability to eat and drink independently as nursing problems. When dealing with an eating problem, nurses usually do things like control the use of medication, and note and record in the nursing plan how much the patient has drunk and eaten, the least frequently used is patient weight recording and weighting. The results show that nurses, when a patient's personal hygiene problems occur, tend to provide hygiene themselves when the patient's mental state prevents them from doing it independently, and much less often, when the patient's personal hygiene activity is impaired nurses tend to motyvate patients to clean their environment. dc.description.abstract	Darbo tikslas: įvertinti psichikos sveikatos slaugytojų veiklą, slaugant šizofrenija sergančius pacientus. Darbo objektas: psichikos sveikatos slaugytojų veikla. Darbo struktūra: darbas sudarytas iš įžangos, literatūros ir tyrimo rezultatų analizės bei išvadų ir rekomendacijų. Darbo rezultatai: tyrimo rezultatai rodo, kad didžioji dalis slaugytojų vertina paciento psichinės veiklos požymius ir tik viena slaugytoja nevertina. Taip pat atliktas tyrimas parodė, kad penki dažniausiai vertinami psichinės veiklos požymiai yra bendravimas, suvokimas, elgesys, išvaizda bei nuotaika. Žvelgiant į slaugos problemas pastebima, kad didžioji dalis slaugytojų slaugant šizofrenija sergančius pacientus įžvelgia bendravimo, valgymo, asmens higienos, agresijos, valios bei suicido problemas ir tik du apklaustieji teigė, kad valgymo problemų nestebi. Pastebėta, kad net pusė apklaustųjų esant valgymo problemoms neišskiria negalėjimo savarankiškai valgyti ir gerti, kaip slaugos problemos. Sprendžiant valgymo problemą slaugytojos dažniausiai atlieka tokius veiksmus, kaip vykdo medikamentų vartojimo kontrolę bei žymi ir registruoja slaugos plane, registruoja kiek pacientas išgėrė skysčių ir suvalgė, rečiau psichikos sveikatos slaugytojos sveria pacientą bei žymi jo svorio kreivę. Rezultatai rodo, kad slaugytojos pasireiškus paciento asmens higienos problemoms, dažniausiai užtikrina higieną pačios, kai paciento psichinė būsena neleidžia jam to atlikti savarankiškai ir daug rečiau sutrikus paciento asmens higienos gyvybinei veiklai slaugytojos motyvuoja pacientą susitvarkyti savo aplinką.
