dc.description	Relevance of the work: Alcohol dependence problem is becoming more and more relevant in our society. However, few people are talking about nurses‘ experiences of nursing delirium tremens patients. This topic has not been thoroughly researched in Lithuania and abroad. No research has been conducted which would reveal mental health nurses‘ experiences. Therefore, with the increasing amount of patients suffering from alcohol dependence, it is important to understand their nursing needs, be able to communicate with them and improve the effectiveness of alcoholic dependence illnesses nursing process. The aim of the study: to reveal experiences of mental health nurses who are nursing patients with delirium tremens. Objectives of the study: 1) To analyse nursing problems of patients according to vital activities in delirium tremens. 2) To describe the activities of nurses who are nursing patients suffering from delirium tremens. 3) To highlight the difficulties experienced by mental health nurses who are nursing patients with delirium tremens. 4) To identify opportunities for improvement in the nursing process of delirium tremens patients. Methodology of the research: A qualitative study was conducted in order to reveal the activity of mental health nurses who are working with delirium tremens patients. The following methods were used to achieve the aim and the objectives of the study: analysis of scientific literature, semi-structured interview, analysis of research data. During the survey, 10 mental health nurses who have been working in field of mental health for more than 10 years were interviewed. Results of the research: Nurses should provide safe environment, monitor vital signs and maintain balance of fluids and electrolytes of patients with delirium tremens. It is important for the nurses to be able to manage aggressive patient behavior which can be directed at the medical personnel and the people around. Also, nurses should be able to receive appropriate support if they lack physical strength. Furthermore, while caring for these patients, nurses are experiencing with difficulties related to emotions as regret, fear of patient‘s condition change and a sense of meaningless. Emotions experienced can cause psychological stress for the nurses themselves. The results of the study showed that the development of nursing care for patients with delirium tremens requires single wards, functional beds and other modern medical equipment which can contribute to efficiency of the nursing process.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	Darbo aktualumas: Šiomis dienomis alkoholinė priklausomybė vis aktualesnė problema mūsų visuomenėje. Tačiau kol kas yra nedaug kalbama apie slaugytojų veiklą, slaugant alkoholiniu delyru sergančius pacientus. Lietuvoje bei užsienyje ši tema nėra išsamiai ištirta, nėra atlikta slaugos mokslinių darbų, kurie atskleistų psichikos sveikatos slaugytojų patirtį. Todėl vis dažniau susiduriant su pacientais, turinčiais alkoholinę priklausomybę, psichikos sveikatos priežiūros įstaigose dirbantiems slaugytojams svarbu suprasti sergančiųjų slaugos poreikius, mokėti bendrauti su tokiais pacientais bei tobulinti alkoholinės priklausomybės sukeltų ligų slaugos proceso efektyvumą. Tyrimo tikslas. Atskleisti psichikos sveikatos slaugytojų veiklą, slaugant pacientus, sergančius alkoholiniu delyru. Tyrimo uždaviniai: 1) Išanalizuoti pacientų slaugos problemas pagal gyvybines veiklas, esant alkoholiniam delyrui. 2) Aprašyti slaugytojų veiklą, slaugant pacientus, sergant alkoholiniu delyru. 3) Išskirti psichikos sveikatos slaugytojų patiriamus sunkumus, slaugant pacientus, sergančius alkoholiniu delyru. 4) Nustatyti tobulinimo galimybes slaugant pacientus, sergančius alkoholiniu delyru. Tyrimo metodika. Siekiant atskleisti realią psichikos sveikatos slaugytojų veiklą, dirbant su alkoholiniu delyru sergančiais pacientais, buvo atliktas kokybinis tyrimas. Tyrimo tikslui bei uždaviniams pasiekti buvo naudojami šie metodai: mokslinės literatūros analizė, pusiau struktūruotas interviu, tyrimo duomenų analizė. Tyrimo metu buvo apklausiami 10 psichikos sveikatos slaugytojų, dirbančių psichikos sveikatos srityje daugiau nei 10 metų. Tyrimo rezultatai: Slaugytojai, slaugantys pacientus, esant alkoholiniam delyrui, privalo užtikrinti tokiems pacientams saugią aplinką, stebėti gyvybines funkcijas bei užtikrinti skysčių ir elektrolitų balansą. Slaugytojui svarbu mokėti suvaldyti agresyvų pacientų elgesį, nukreiptą į medicinos personalą bei aplinkinius žmones bei gauti reikiamą pagalbą esant fizinės jėgos trūkumui. Slaugydami tokius pacientus slaugytojai patiria sunkumus, susijusius su tokiomis emocijomis, kaip gailestis, baimė dėl tolimesnės paciento būklės, beprasmybės jausmas. Patiriamos emocijos gali sukelti psichologinį stresą patiems slaugytojams. Tyrimo rezultatai parodė, jog alkoholiniu delyru sergančių pacientų slaugos pagerinimui reikalingos vienvietės palatos, funkcinės lovos bei kita moderni medicinos įranga, galinti prisidėti prie slaugos proceso efektyvumo.	en_US
